Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.5

The student attempts to summarise the main features of the chart, noting trends such as the slight decline in eating fast food every day and identifying key eating frequencies. However, the response falls significantly short of the 150-word minimum requirement, containing only 113 words. Furthermore, the final paragraph is incomplete and trails off mid-sentence ('Moving furthers, never ate fast food ,their percentge decreac'), which prevents full development of the task. While some data points are correctly referenced, the incomplete nature of the response and failure to meet the minimum word count limit the band score.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The text is organized into brief paragraphs, and the writer attempts to use logical connectors such as 'Taking a gernal overview', 'it is pellucid that', and 'Moving furthers'. However, cohesion is frequently disrupted by poor sentence structure, incomplete thoughts, and the sudden truncation of the final paragraph. Paragraphing is attempted, but the very short and abrupt nature of the sections impedes overall flow and logical progression. Referencing is occasionally unclear, and the mechanical use of transition phrases prevents higher coherence bands.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is quite basic and limited ('most people', 'same', 'declined'), alongside several noticeable spelling and word-choice errors ('resturents' instead of restaurants, 'gernal' instead of general, 'usally', 'fst', 'pellucid', 'furthers', 'percentge', 'decreac'). There are attempts to use less common vocabulary items like 'pellucid', but they are often used incorrectly or awkwardly in context. The persistent spelling errors and restricted range of appropriate lexical items restrict this criterion to a band 5.0.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response features a mix of simple and emerging complex sentence structures, but grammatical accuracy is weak. There are frequent punctuation and capitalization issues (e.g., lowercase 'it' at the beginning of a sentence, comma splices like 'on the other hand , the percentage'). Additionally, the final sentence is grammatically incomplete ('never ate fast food ,their percentge decreac'). While some basic sentences are formed correctly, the accumulation of errors and the unfinished structure pull the score down.
