Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response attempts to address the task by reporting several features of the provided bar chart, such as the percentages for eating fast food once a week or a few times a year. However, the overall selection and reporting of main features is disjointed and confused. For instance, the overview statement in the first paragraph is extremely unclear, noting that the proportion of people who ate fast food 'without either a day have least percent'. Furthermore, there are inaccuracies in reading the data, such as claiming that people who ate once a week and twice in a month reached 33% and 34% in 2013 respectively, whereas the chart shows 'once or twice a month' at 33% and 'once a week' at 28% in 2013. The lack of a clear, coherent overview and imprecise data reporting place this response at Band 5.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

Although the text is divided into three paragraphs, the logical progression is weak and ideas are often jumbled. Cohesive devices are used awkwardly or inaccurately, such as the transition 'While, who ate once a week...' and 'On ther other hand'. The referencing and sentence construction in the first paragraph ('the ratio proportion of people who ate the fast food without either a day have least percent') are particularly confusing, which disrupts the flow and makes the overall arrangement difficult to follow. Paragraphing is attempted, but internal cohesion fails to connect ideas smoothly. This corresponds to a Band 5 level.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is very limited and repetitive, with awkward phrasing and word choices throughout. Examples include 'ratio proportion', 'siginificantly increase' (spelling and grammatical form error), and 'average proportion'. The student struggles to use less common vocabulary accurately, resulting in phrases that are unnatural or obscure the intended meaning. Spelling errors such as 'siginificantly' and 'ther' further detract from the lexical quality. While the vocabulary is minimally adequate to convey a basic topic related to fast food consumption, the frequent inaccuracies place it firmly at Band 5.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response demonstrates a very limited range of grammatical structures. The sentences are frequently ungrammatical or poorly formed, containing multiple structural errors that impede comprehension. For example, 'the ratio proportion of people who ate the fast food without either a day have least percent' is structurally incoherent. Other errors include tense inconsistencies and incorrect prepositions or relative clauses, such as 'with slightly changing between them who ate many times'. Simple sentences often contain errors, and attempts at more complex structures are heavily flawed. This reflects the Band 5 descriptor.
