Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, stopping at only 107 words. This significantly limits the student's ability to fully select, report, and compare the main features of the chart. While the writer attempts to mention some figures, the data reported contains notable inaccuracies and confusion (for instance, claiming that 34% of people tried fast food once or twice a month in both 2003 and 2013, whereas the chart shows around 30% for 2003 and 33% for 2013). The overview is poorly integrated, and the response lacks a clear, comprehensive summary of the overall trends shown in the bar chart. Consequently, Task Achievement is severely restricted by both the under-length penalty and inaccurate data reporting.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0

The organisation of the text is severely disrupted. The response consists of abrupt, disconnected sentences and fragments rather than cohesive paragraphs. While transitional markers like 'conclusion,it can be clearly seen that', 'Firstly', and 'Furthermore' are attempted, they are used incorrectly or mechanically, failing to establish a clear logical progression of ideas. Paragraphing is inappropriate, with sentences jumbled together without clear topical division. Referencing is also problematic, making it difficult for the reader to follow the flow of information across the text. Cohesion is faulty and inadequate throughout, placing this response at Band 4.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

The vocabulary used is basic, repetitive, and frequently imprecise or inappropriate for an Academic task. The student relies on informal or incorrect collocations, such as 'junk food in restaurants', 'concumed street food', and 'food alots of time in week'. There are also numerous spelling and word-form errors, including 'illustrate' instead of 'illustrates', 'concumed', 'persecent', and 'alots'. The range of vocabulary is extremely limited and inadequate for discussing statistical data effectively, resulting in frequent instances where word choice strains the reader's comprehension.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.0

The grammatical range is very limited, consisting mostly of simple and attempted complex sentences that are heavily flawed. There are frequent, noticeable errors in basic grammar, punctuation, and sentence structure, such as 'The chart illustrate that in USA , how frequently of adults ate in junk food', where the dependent clause structure is completely jumbled. Punctuation is misused throughout, with misplaced spaces before commas and periods. These frequent errors cause difficulty for the reader and impede the accurate communication of information, fitting the profile for Band 4.
