Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
The response attempts to address the task by referencing trends from the chart, such as mentioning that a smaller number of people ate fast food every day and noting fluctuations between 2003, 2006, and 2013. However, the response only minimally addresses the prompt, misinterpreting the visual data in places and failing to provide a clear, coherent overview of the main features. The ideas remain limited and under-developed, resulting in a fragmented summary of the provided bar chart.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
The organization of information lacks a clear progression throughout the text. While some basic cohesive devices like 'however', 'moreover', and 'furthermore' are used, they are often mechanical and do not establish logical relationships between ideas. Additionally, the response lacks proper paragraphing, as all sentences are lumped together into a single block of text, making the overall structure difficult to follow and contributing to disjointed transitions between points.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, relying on imprecise phrases like 'major quantity of people', 'healthy number of people', and 'its quantity is better' to describe statistical data. There are noticeable word choice and collocation inaccuracies throughout the text, such as referring to percentages or proportions as 'quantities'. While the meaning is generally decipherable, the limited and strained lexical range restricts the precision required for an academic task report.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The response demonstrates a very limited range of sentence structures, relying primarily on simple or awkwardly constructed complex forms. There are frequent grammatical errors, including missing capitalization ('many People', 'in USA'), incorrect prepositions ('in every week', 'oneday in a month'), and faulty verb forms or agreements ('people have come at least once in week'). These errors occur regularly and frequently cause difficulty or strain for the reader.
