Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
The response addresses the task only partially, presenting some key features and data points from the chart, such as the percentages for 'Once a week' and 'Once or twice a month' across the years. However, the information is presented in a very generalized and imprecise way, with inaccurate data reporting in places (e.g., misstating the frequencies and percentages for other categories). Furthermore, the overview attempted at the end is vague and lacks clear synthesis of the main trends. Ideas are limited and under-developed, preventing a more complete and accurate overview of the visual data.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
There is some basic organization with paragraph breaks separating different years, but the response lacks a clear overall progression. Cohesive devices are either missing, inadequate, or repetitive, making the flow disjointed. Phrases like 'other days, years and never proportion was lower than other' lack clarity and logical connection. Additionally, referencing is frequently unclear, and the text lacks adequate transition words to smoothly guide the reader through the comparisons between categories and years.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
The vocabulary used is limited and repetitive, with frequent word-choice errors that occasionally strain communication. Phrases such as 'people quiet eat fast food', 'largest proportion of Once a week people was ate', and 'highest like to eat' demonstrate a lack of control over basic word forms, collocations, and parts of speech. The range of vocabulary is barely adequate for the task, relying heavily on simple terms and repeating words like 'proportion', 'people', and 'eat' without sufficient variation.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The writer uses a very limited range of structures, relying primarily on simple sentences, and attempts at complex or descriptive sentences are frequently faulty. There are persistent errors in verb forms, tense usage (e.g., mixing past and present inappropriately, as in 'This information gave' and 'people like to eat'), missing auxiliary verbs, incorrect word order, and faulty prepositions (e.g., 'ate in fast food restaurants'). These frequent grammatical errors cause noticeable difficulty for the reader and reflect a weak control over basic sentence construction.
