Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You identify the chart’s subject and report several relevant figures, including the weekly figures (31%, 33%, and 28%) and monthly figures (30%, 25%, and 33%). However, the response mainly lists categories rather than selecting and summarising the key patterns, and it has no clear overview of the main changes. Some details are inaccurate: daily eating in 2013 was 3%, not 4%, and the “never” figures were about 3.5–4.5%, rather than simply being described as under 10%. The opening also repeats task wording instead of establishing a concise summary. To strengthen the response, state the overall pattern—for example, weekly eating peaked in 2006, while monthly eating was highest in 2013—and report the less frequent categories accurately.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0

The response follows the chart categories in a broadly understandable order, using markers such as “Next” and “Lastly,” so the reader can see which frequency is being discussed. However, it is presented as one continuous paragraph, with no distinct introduction, overview, or organised detail paragraphs. The repeated pattern of naming a category and listing three years makes the writing feel like notes rather than a connected summary. Some links are also unclear, as in “and last one is sixteen parsant,” where the year must be inferred. Group related categories and use clear comparisons between years; a separate overview would give the information a more logical progression.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

You use basic vocabulary relevant to the chart, including “every day,” “once a week,” and “a few times a year,” and you attempt comparison with words such as “higher” and “lower.” However, the range is limited and several inaccurate or misspelled forms make the report less clear, including “frequently” where “frequency” is needed, “restaurents,” “parsatage,” and “coparisons.” Phrases such as “last one” are vague, and “ratio” is not the appropriate term for a percentage. Use precise chart language consistently, such as “the proportion of people,” “in 2013,” and “rose/fell to,” and check spelling and word forms before submitting.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response attempts to compare figures across years, but most sentences rely on a narrow, repetitive structure and contain frequent grammatical problems. For example, “In USA every day ate fast food in 2003 is 4%” lacks a clear subject and has an awkward verb pattern; “2006 is lower than 2003” also compares years rather than the percentages. Missing spaces after figures and inconsistent sentence punctuation further affect readability. Practise complete comparison structures, such as “The proportion eating fast food daily was 4% in 2003 and fell to 3% in 2006.” Use consistent past-tense reporting and make sure each sentence has a clear subject, verb, and comparison.
