Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You identify several relevant categories, including daily eating, weekly visits and monthly visits, and you attempt an overview by noting that monthly and weekly eating were common while daily eating was rare. However, the overview is difficult to interpret and does not accurately establish the main pattern: once a week was highest in 2003 and 2006, while once or twice a month became highest in 2013. Some figures are also misreported or unclear. For example, several times a week was 17%, 20% and 16%, but the response gives 16% for the first figure and an unclear “205” for 2006. The account of weekly eating does not clearly report its decline to 28% in 2013. Select the key comparisons and state them precisely.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
There is an attempt to organise the response into an introduction, an overview and two body paragraphs, and phrases such as “First of all” and “Moreover” signal movement between points. However, the progression is hard to follow because sentences are often incomplete or ideas are joined unclearly. The opening, “The discriub timeline,” does not explain what the chart shows, and the overview contains fragments that obscure the comparison. In the body, “Then it decreased it” has no clear reference, while “Second evidents shows it” does not introduce a specific point. Group the categories into clear comparisons, use one main idea per sentence, and make references such as “it” explicit.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
The response uses some task-related vocabulary, including “approximately,” “decreased,” “rose” and “accounted,” showing an attempt to describe data rather than simply list categories. However, the range is basic and repetitive, and frequent spelling errors or unsuitable expressions strain understanding. Examples include “indivduals,” “discriub,” “singnificantly,” and “evidents.” Phrases such as “ate a lot of ate junk food” and “normaly least accounted” are not natural ways to describe proportions. Use accurate chart language and check spelling carefully; for example, describe a percentage as “stood at” a value or say that a figure “increased to” a value.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
You attempt a few longer structures, including “Whereas, every day and sometimes consumers rarely ate junk food,” but most sentences are not controlled enough to communicate the comparisons reliably. There are frequent problems with sentence formation, verb forms and agreement: “The bar graphs provides” has a plural subject with a singular verb, while “People every day it junk food” lacks a workable sentence structure. Tense and clause construction are also unclear in “After they aate less 1% in both years.” Punctuation and capitalisation further interrupt the flow, as in “2003 After.” Practise writing complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, then check agreement, past-tense forms and punctuation.
