Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You identify the three years and report several relevant categories, including weekly, monthly and infrequent visits. However, the response does not provide a clear overview of the main pattern, and some figures are inaccurate: for example, the 2006 weekly figure is about 33%, not approximately 35%, while the 2013 monthly figure is about 33%, not 30%. The 2003 figures for several visits a week and a few times a year are also overstated. The final sentence about 2013 is incomplete as a summary and omits the figures for a few times a year and never. To improve, give a concise overview of the key shifts, then select accurate comparisons and report them clearly.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response is divided into sections for 2003, 2006 and 2013, which gives the reader a basic chronological structure. You also attempt to connect information with phrases such as “in contrast” and “in comparison.” However, the long sentences contain many figures and trends without clear boundaries, so the progression is difficult to follow. Some linking phrases are repetitive or do not express a clear contrast, and the final paragraph ends without completing the comparison. Organise the report into a short introduction, an overview, and focused detail paragraphs. Within each paragraph, group related categories and use clear sentence breaks so that comparisons are easier to track.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some task-related vocabulary, including “ratio,” “population,” “frequent visits” and “declined,” and you make an effort to vary your wording. However, several choices are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “visited to eat the fast food,” “the table was again,” and “the trend was diverted.” Spelling errors including “rataurants,” “aat” and “dreduced” also reduce clarity. The repeated use of “raised” for percentages that increase, and “population” where “people” or “respondents” would be more natural, limits precision. Aim for straightforward, accurate chart language: describe percentages as rising, falling, remaining stable, or reaching a peak, and use “ate at” or “visited” consistently.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

You attempt longer sentences to compare several categories, but these are often difficult to understand because of frequent errors in sentence structure and verb forms. For example, “the chart illustrates the comparison of three years which showing” has an incorrect relative clause, while “18% people used to visit” lacks an article and uses an unsuitable tense for chart data. There are also problems with agreement and sentence boundaries, as in “the trend again showing the declined its number.” Use the present simple to describe the chart, such as “the figure rose to 20%,” and build shorter sentences with one main comparison each. Check articles, prepositions and punctuation when revising.
