Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You identify some relevant features, including the low proportions eating fast food every day and the peak for weekly eating, and you correctly report several-times-a-week figures for all three years. However, the overview is unclear and partly contradictory: you call once a week the highest category, then say once or twice a month has the lowest values, although it is among the most common frequencies. The chart’s key shift is that once or twice a month rises to 33% in 2013, while once a week falls from 33% in 2006 to 28%. Your response ends mid-sentence after “The group of,” so important comparisons are missing. Select the main trends accurately and complete the account.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
There is an attempt to organise the response into an introduction, an overview and a detail paragraph, and linking expressions such as “Additionally” and “Furthermore” signal relationships. However, progression is difficult to follow because the overview repeats points and contains conflicting claims, while the detail paragraph moves between categories without a clear comparison structure. The final sentence, “The group of,” is unfinished, leaving the discussion abruptly incomplete. Some connectors, including “First and foremost,” do not clarify how the data relate. Group the figures by meaningful trends—for example, the changing weekly and monthly frequencies—and use clear references to the years and categories.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “bar chart,” “frequency,” “figures,” and “recorded,” so the topic is generally recognisable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or repetitive, such as “highest ratio among in all aspects,” “sales of fast food” for the percentage of people, and “most lowest value.” Spelling errors such as “restraunts,” “teating,” and “oif” also reduce precision. Prefer direct, accurate language for describing proportions and changes, such as “the proportion of people,” “accounted for,” “rose,” and “fell.” Check spelling and avoid using “group” repeatedly when “category” or the frequency label is clearer.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response attempts some longer sentence forms, including clauses introduced by “while” and “which,” but control is inconsistent and the range remains limited. Errors in sentence construction and agreement appear in phrases such as “the group … displays,” “the group … displays the most lowest value,” and “the figures reaches about 3%.” The overview also contains a sentence fragment-like construction, “The group such as every day shows…,” and the final sentence is incomplete. These problems sometimes make the intended comparisons difficult to understand. Build accurate simple sentences first, then add controlled comparisons, for example: “The proportion eating once a week was highest in 2006, at 33%, before falling to 28% in 2013.”
