Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You identify the topic and make an attempt at an overview, noting that monthly eating was common and daily eating was low. However, the main trends are not reported accurately or clearly: the claim that there were “major increases” from 2003 to 2013 is not supported, since several-times-a-week eating fell from 17% to 16%, and weekly eating fell from 31% to 28%. The statement about a “35% upgrade proportion” is also unclear and does not match a category’s value. Some figures are broadly relevant, such as around 15% eating a few times a year, but comparisons across all three years are limited. To improve, give a precise overview of the leading categories and the shift from weekly eating to monthly eating, then support it with accurate figures.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

The response has separate paragraphs and uses basic linking words such as “Overall,” “However,” and “whereas,” so there is an attempt to organise the information. Nevertheless, the progression is difficult to follow: the second paragraph combines an unclear overview with a confusing reference to 2006, while the later paragraphs repeat ideas about frequent eating without systematically comparing the years or categories. References such as “the number of people in 2003 to 2013” and “Only in 2006 and 2013” do not make the intended comparison clear. A clearer structure would be an introduction, a concise overview, and two body paragraphs grouping the frequency categories, with each comparison tied to a year and percentage.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some task-related vocabulary, including “proportion,” “consumption,” “frequently,” and “majority,” which helps communicate the general subject. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations make the meaning unclear, such as “35% upgrade proportion,” “people having fast food frequently,” and “individuals who's love to eating.” Repetition of “people,” “fast food,” and “love to eat” also limits precision. Aim for neutral, accurate chart language rather than describing people’s preferences: for example, use “the percentage of respondents” and “ate fast food once a week.” Check spelling and word forms, including “major,” “quite,” and “fewer,” so the reader can interpret your comparisons more easily.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

You attempt some longer sentence forms, including a contrast with “However” and a clause beginning “whereas,” but control is inconsistent and many sentences contain errors that obscure the intended meaning. For example, “The chart illustrated that how regularly people in USA ate” has an incorrect clause structure, and “The number of people in 2003 to 2013 are quit less” has problems with tense, agreement, and sentence construction. Articles and prepositions are also often missing or inaccurate, as in “in USA” and “in fast food restaurant.” Punctuation is unreliable, with missing spaces after full stops and commas. Practise accurate simple comparisons first, then combine them using controlled clauses such as “while” and “whereas.”
