Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify the chart’s subject and report several relevant comparisons, including the rise in monthly dining from 25% in 2006 to 33% in 2013 and the lower figures for daily eating. However, the overview is unclear and includes an inaccurate claim: the highest frequency was once a week in 2006 (33%), not once or twice a month in the last year. The statement that daily eating was lowest is broadly right, but “in second year” is unclear. Some figures are also imprecise: once-a-week dining was 31%, 33% and 28%, rather than about 32% in both 2003 and 2006. A clearer overview of the main shifts, supported by accurate comparisons, would make the response more complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a basic structure: an introduction, an overview and two paragraphs of details. It also attempts to group information using “To commence with” and “Furthermore.” However, the progression is difficult to follow because figures are presented in a list-like sequence, and the final sentence repeats the 2013 monthly figure already mentioned. Some comparisons are not clearly linked to their years, as in “in a fast year” and “in a given last year,” so readers must infer the intended meaning. Use one paragraph for the main high-frequency categories and another for the less common ones, and connect each comparison explicitly to its year. This would improve the organisation and reduce repetition.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

Vocabulary is limited and repetitive, particularly the repeated use of “frenquency” and “eat fast food.” Several word choices make the meaning difficult to understand, such as “packed food” for fast food and “in a fast year” for the first year. There are also frequent spelling errors, including “frenduency,” “evwery,” and “tp,” which weaken clarity. The response does use some relevant chart language, such as “nearly,” “whereas,” and “percent,” but these are not controlled consistently. Build a small set of accurate terms for describing frequency and proportions, and check spelling and collocations before submitting.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response relies mainly on short, incomplete sentence patterns, and attempts to combine comparisons often produce faulty structures. For example, “Overall, the highest frenduency once or twice a month in last year” has no main verb, while “the frenquency of ate fast food in several times a week” uses an incorrect verb form and preposition pattern. Articles and sentence boundaries are also inconsistent, as in “in a given last years” and “Furthermore, nearly 5%.” These errors frequently make relationships between figures unclear. Practise complete subject–verb sentences such as “The proportion eating weekly was highest in 2006,” then add comparisons using accurate clauses and punctuation.
