Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You identify several important categories, including the weekly peak in 2003 and 2006 and the monthly peak in 2013. However, the response only partially summarises the chart: there is no clear, accurate overview of the main changes across all three years, and some comparisons are missing. The statement that weekly and monthly eating “had incresd” in 2006 and 2013 is unclear and does not match the overall pattern: weekly figures rose from 31% to 33% and then fell to 28%, while monthly figures fell to 25% in 2006 before rising to 33% in 2013. The 2006 figure for several times a week is also given as 25%, rather than about 20%. Focus on the main trends and report figures consistently.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a basic paragraph structure, moving from an introduction to details about 2006, 2013 and 2003. This gives the reader some organisation, and phrases such as “In context of 2006” signal a change of focus. However, the year-by-year sequence does not create a clear overall progression or make comparisons between years easy to follow. The overview is difficult to interpret, and repeated wording such as “people in usa” and “had” makes the links between ideas mechanical. Some details are also joined with full stops in ways that interrupt the flow, for example “around 25 %.and thred group”. Grouping the main trends together and using clear comparison links would improve cohesion.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You use some relevant chart vocabulary, including “highest,” “lowest,” “decline” and “around,” so the reader can recognise the intended topic. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, which sometimes makes the meaning difficult to understand. Phrases such as “the freqently people,” “had low people,” and “the similar eating” do not express the intended ideas naturally. There are also noticeable spelling errors, including “incresd,” “thred” and “grow.” Aim to use precise terms for proportions and frequency, such as “the proportion,” “accounted for,” and “ate at fast-food restaurants,” and check spelling and word forms carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
Most sentences rely on a simple subject-and-verb pattern, and attempts to form longer sentences are often inaccurate. For example, “The given chart illustrates the freqently people in usa ate of fast food restaurants” lacks a workable grammatical structure, while “In 2013 had highest people” has no clear subject. Errors with articles, plurals and agreement also recur, as in “once or twice a months” and “The every day had low people.” Punctuation and spacing are inconsistent, including the missing space after “Overall” and the full stop before “and thred.” These frequent problems can make the data descriptions hard to follow. Practise complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, and use simple comparative structures accurately before adding complexity.
