Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify the chart’s subject and include an overview, noting that weekly or monthly visits were the most common and that daily visits and never visiting were least common. However, several details are unclear or inaccurate. For example, “several times a week” rose to 20% in 2006 but then fell to 16% in 2013; your account suggests an increase without clearly reporting that later decline. You also say the “a few times a year” figure “decreased halfly,” although it rose from about 12.5% to 15% and then remained stable. The overview’s “highest position around 33 proportion” does not clearly distinguish the 2006 weekly peak from the 2013 monthly peak. Select the main trends and report them precisely.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has a basic structure: an introduction, an overview and a paragraph of details. This gives the reader some sense of how the information is organised. However, the detailed paragraph does not progress clearly through the categories, and the sequence markers “secondly,” “thirdly” and “finally” feel mechanical rather than showing meaningful comparisons. Some links are also confusing, such as “2006 and 2013 are similar them” and “however, once or twice week.” Group related trends—for example, the categories that peaked in 2006 versus those that peaked in 2013—and use clear comparisons to connect them. More precise referencing would also help readers understand which year or frequency each statement describes.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant vocabulary for describing the chart, including “highest proportion,” “every day” and “a few times a year.” However, the range is limited, and several word choices or collocations make the meaning difficult to follow. Phrases such as “the highest position,” “people choose them” and “decreased halfly” are not natural ways to describe percentages or trends. There are also noticeable spelling errors, including “illiustrates,” “restuarants” and “lowset.” Use standard chart language such as “accounted for,” “rose,” “fell” and “remained stable,” and check spelling carefully. This would make your comparisons more precise and easier to understand.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and longer sentences, but the range is limited and complex attempts are often faulty, which sometimes makes the relationships between ideas unclear. For example, “2006 and 2013 are similar them” has an incomplete comparison, while “people are going to highest proportion of eating fast food then previous time” has problems with tense, articles and sentence structure. In “they never going to the restuarant and do not ate fast food,” the verb forms are also inconsistent. Practise forming accurate past-tense comparisons, such as “The figure rose in 2006, then fell in 2013,” and use complete clauses with clear subjects and verbs. More reliable sentence control will help communicate the data.
