Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You identify the chart’s subject and report several relevant categories, including the rise in monthly visits from 30% to 33% and the figures for eating several times a week. However, the overview is unclear and does not accurately summarise the main pattern. The claim that the highest figures in 2006 and 2013 were “almost same … approximately 36%” is inaccurate: the peaks were 33% for weekly visits in 2006 and 33% for monthly visits in 2013. You also report weekly eating in 2013 as 16%, whereas it was about 28%. The conclusion that the USA people ate at the same percentages is not supported. Select the main peaks and overall shifts, then check each figure against the chart.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has some organisation: it begins with an introduction, uses “Firstly” and “Secondly” to group details, and ends with a conclusion. This gives the reader a basic sense of structure. However, the progression is not consistently clear because several categories and years are crowded into long sentences, and the conclusion repeats an unclear comparison rather than synthesising the main trends. Linking words such as “However,” “further more,” and “In addition” are used, but the relationships between the points are sometimes difficult to follow. Group the data into clearer paragraphs—for example, the most frequent categories and the less frequent ones—and use shorter sentences with explicit comparisons between years.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant chart vocabulary, including “approximately,” “percentage,” “once a week,” and “a few times a year,” so the topic is generally recognisable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, such as “ate in unhealthy food,” “higest people,” and “people was eat.” Spelling errors including “contrys,” “approximetly,” and “conclution” also reduce clarity. Repeated use of “people ate fast food” makes the report sound repetitive. Build a small set of accurate trend expressions, such as “accounted for,” “rose to,” “fell to,” and “was the most common frequency,” and use them to describe the figures precisely.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt to connect ideas in longer sentences, for example with “However” and “as well as,” but these structures are often faulty, and most sentences contain errors that make the comparisons harder to understand. Examples include “The line graph illustrate,” “people were eat,” and “people was eat,” which show problems with subject–verb agreement and verb forms. Sentence boundaries and punctuation are also inconsistent, as in “31%in 2003 however,in 2013.” The response relies heavily on basic clauses and does not yet control a wider range of sentence patterns. Practise accurate simple comparison structures first, such as “The figure was 31% in 2003, compared with 28% in 2013,” then add subordinate clauses only when the basic grammar is secure.
