Student answer (Band 5.5)

In this cutting edge era, it is contemplated that majorty of individuals think that it is necessary to spend large sum of money on constructing new railway lins for very fast trains between cities, whereas few individuals believe that money should be spent on improving existing public transports. This essay will discuss both the views along with my opinin. The points related to it will be aritculated in the forthcoming paragraph.

To commence with, spending money in constructing new railway line will be essential for everyone as it will help to manage time and it will also reduce the distance while travelling from one country to another. As in few countries there are less railway stations and due to which individuals face many difficulties while travelling. Apart from this, if there are more railway lines then it will help to finish the traffics which are caused on railway lines. Moreover, if more lines are constructed than it will also help to reduce the accidents which are caused by trains by wrong navigation. For instance, as america has proper railway system so it has the worlds fastest system and regarded as world's safest and fastest medium to transport.

On the other hand, other people think that money should be spent on improving existing public transport as individuals think that firstly government should manage proper road and do not neglect public transport system. As in many countries the roads are broken and due to which individual feel difficulties to travel to there office and also cause difficulties in the case of emergency. In some regions roads and railways lines need to get maintainance which can become a cause of accident. For instance, due to shortage and inproper railways lines there was an accident occur in year 2021 in assam where chennai express and nepal express were collapse with each and and many people were dead at the same time.

In my opinion, i believe that both the system should be improved. Government should utilise funding on both transports and with the help of better transport facilites individuals will not be late for their work and it will also be helpfull in the cas of emergency.

In conclusion, although spending money on new railway lines are essential as it will help to manage time and also help to reduce the distance between cities, yet public transports also plays an important role for people. If the roas will not get any maintainance then in the case of any emergency individuals may feel difficulties.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both sides of the discussion and state your own view: the body paragraphs present reasons for new railway lines and for improving existing transport, while the opinion paragraph supports investment in both. Your examples, including road conditions and a reported train accident, help make the discussion relevant. However, some points are not fully explained or are unclear. For example, the claim that new lines will “reduce the distance” between cities needs clarification, and the accident example does not clearly show how improving existing transport would prevent such incidents. Develop each main reason with a more precise explanation and use accurate, relevant examples to support your position.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, your opinion, and a conclusion. This makes the discussion easy to follow in broad terms. You also use linking expressions such as “On the other hand,” “Moreover,” and “In conclusion.” At times, however, cohesion feels mechanical because several sentences begin with “As” or “Moreover,” and ideas within paragraphs are not always connected clearly. The transition from railway-line capacity to reducing accidents, for instance, needs a clearer explanation. Some references, such as “both the system,” are also unclear. Use a wider range of natural links and make the relationship between each claim and its supporting detail explicit.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “railway lines,” “public transport,” “funding,” and “emergency,” so the reader can understand the subject. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, which sometimes makes meaning less clear. Phrases such as “finish the traffics,” “reduce the distance,” and “worlds fastest system” do not express the intended ideas naturally. Spelling errors, including “majorty,” “opin in,” and “maintainance,” also affect the impression of control. Build a more precise vocabulary for transport policy and infrastructure, and check spelling and collocations carefully. For example, use “ease congestion” rather than “finish the traffics.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including conditional clauses such as “if more lines are constructed” and subordinate clauses introduced by “although.” The overall meaning is generally recoverable, but some grammatical errors occur across the response. Examples include subject–verb agreement in “public transports also plays,” article and number problems in “constructing new railway line,” and faulty verb forms in “there was an accident occur.” Sentence boundaries and punctuation also need attention, as in “accident. For instance.” These issues sometimes make the reader pause. Practise accurate agreement, articles, plural forms, and past-tense constructions, then proofread each sentence for punctuation and completeness.
