Student answer (Band 6.0)

Now days, Some people think that it is necessary to spend large amount on building or constructing new and fast railway lines. While other people believe the money should be spent on improving public transport. both situations are necessary for society . In the following paragraphs I will give and explain my opinion

Firstly, In our country transport plays an important role. Some people's opinion is that improving railway lines are beneficial. Their thoughts are great because it gives us some relief from paying high amounts. Trains are also form of public transport but people used them for just long journeys

Secondly, Those people who thinks that money should be used on improving Public transport like making good and clean bus stops reducing amount that paying for travel Their thoughts also meaning full because mostly people use public transport daily for going college, schools, offices etc

According to my opinion, Both sides are necessary but when I have to choose one side I will be choose public transport like buses. Because I also take bus to go my study place. It should be improve, safe and clean. I suggest to travel for short distance about 60 to 70 km in Bus.

Conclusion is that, Buses and trains plays beneficial role in our life for long distance journey we have to take trains because trains are fast and have one route no many stops we have not face many stops during travel

while public transport has its own benefits people use it daily because it costs low and reducing pollution

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is limited. While you mention that high-speed trains provide relief from costs and that public transport is used for daily commutes, these points are not fully extended with specific examples or logical depth. The conclusion is somewhat repetitive and lacks a strong summary of the main arguments. To improve, ensure each body paragraph has a clear topic sentence followed by detailed supporting evidence or reasoning to fully explore the implications of each viewpoint.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is quite mechanical and sometimes inaccurate, such as starting sentences with 'According to my opinion' or 'Conclusion is that'. There is a lack of sophisticated linking words to connect ideas within and between paragraphs. The progression of ideas is sometimes disjointed, particularly in the transition between the discussion of trains and the final opinion. Improving the variety and accuracy of transition signals would significantly enhance the flow of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but remains quite basic and repetitive. You rely on simple terms like 'good', 'clean', and 'fast'. There are also some issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'meaning full' (meaningful) and 'go my study place'. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use more precise vocabulary related to urban planning and transportation, such as 'infrastructure', 'commuter', 'efficiency', or 'subsidised'. Expanding your range of synonyms and collocations will help you express your ideas with more sophistication and clarity.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and some attempted complex structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('Those people who thinks', 'Buses and trains plays'), missing articles ('take bus'), and punctuation errors. While the meaning is generally clear, these persistent errors interfere with the overall fluency of the text. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, specifically subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles, before attempting more complex sentence structures.
