Student answer (Band 6.0)

In a number of countries, some people think it is necessary to spend large amount of money on constructing new railway lines for very fast trains between cities. Others believe that money should be spent on improving existing public transport. I believe that spending large amount of money on developing new railway lines is a good idea. Thus, discussed in this essay.

Countries like Canada, USA, Australia are currently building new railway lines for very fast trains. Government of these countries spending lots of money on this project. Time is precious. Government of these countries noticed that there is no more good transport facilites between cities. Government of USA , noticed that 90% of citizens use public transport. Many issues was raised like poor time management, low quality of transportation and etc. For that reason, they developed fast train project which helps people to travel one city to another as soon as possible.

However, Other believe that money should be spent on improving exisitng public transport. It's because of some people not aware about this train project. Additionally, they think that this might be costly. Morever, some people are not comfortable with train facilites.

I personally believe that, It's necessary to spend money on new railway lines because it gives connectivity to famous cities across the country.

In conclusion, All people should support to built project because it will make convenient to travel one city to other city and make people convenient to travel across the countr. And Existing public transport should be improved.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both views and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is limited. The arguments regarding the benefits of fast trains are somewhat repetitive and lack specific, well-explained examples. The mention of Canada, USA, and Australia is a good attempt at providing context, but the subsequent claims about these countries are vague and lack depth. The essay would benefit from more detailed reasoning to support the position. While the task is addressed, the lack of depth in the supporting arguments keeps this in the lower band range.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which is a positive feature. However, the flow of ideas is often disjointed. The use of cohesive devices is mechanical and sometimes inaccurate, such as the abrupt transition 'Thus, discussed in this essay' in the introduction. Referencing is occasionally unclear, and the logical progression between sentences is weak. For example, the jump between discussing government spending and the claim that 'Time is precious' lacks a clear logical link. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring each paragraph has a clear topic sentence would significantly enhance the coherence of the writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks variety and precision. There is frequent repetition of basic terms like 'money', 'spend', and 'train'. Some word choices are unnatural or imprecise, such as 'make convenient to travel' or 'support to built project'. There are also minor errors in word formation and collocation throughout the text. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use a wider range of vocabulary, including more academic collocations and synonyms, and ensure that words are used in their correct grammatical form.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay relies heavily on simple sentence structures. While there are attempts at complex sentences, they are often marred by grammatical errors, such as 'Many issues was raised' (subject-verb agreement) and 'Other believe' (missing article). Punctuation is inconsistent, particularly with the use of commas and capitalization. There are frequent errors in articles, pluralization, and verb tense consistency. While the meaning is generally clear, the high frequency of grammatical errors limits the score. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for subject-verb agreement would lead to immediate improvement.
