Student answer (Band 5.5)

In many countries, some of population thinks that government should need to spent large amount of money on building new railway tracks, helping people to fast traveling between different cities. While, on the other hand, some community thinks that government should have to spent money on currently existing vehicles . I will discuss both of the above given views according to my perspective.

Firstly, I will totally want to disagree with those peoples their perspective is that, the government should have to spent money on constructing new railway tracks because it's work like waste of money on unnecessary activities. According to my perspective, government should have to make services better and more reliable for people whether to spent money on new projects or construction like railway tracks. For instance, if government can planned multiples project in a row and in which some of them can be completed in future but it have required some maintainence so, definitely required of cost, if government have no money management plan to spending money in a right or in a useful way may be it becomes in highly risk, so , according to my thinking government should have to make things better or maintain first for people than it should have to start the new project.

In conclusion, developing new track is the worst idea or decision , railway departments should have to just maintain the existing tracks or make better and more comfortable for travelers, government should need the money mnagement skills.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses both views but fails to develop them adequately. The arguments are repetitive and lack specific examples or logical depth. The position is stated, but the reasoning is underdeveloped, focusing almost exclusively on the writer's opinion rather than balancing the discussion of both perspectives as required. Furthermore, the essay falls short of the 250-word minimum requirement, which negatively impacts the overall task achievement score. To improve, you should provide more detailed explanations for why some support high-speed rail and ensure your own opinion is supported by clear, logical arguments rather than just stating a preference.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the progression of ideas is weak. Cohesive devices are used in a very mechanical and sometimes inaccurate way, such as the repetitive use of 'According to my perspective' and 'government should have to'. The transition between the two views is abrupt, and the conclusion does not effectively synthesise the arguments presented. The lack of varied linking words makes the text feel disjointed. To improve, focus on using a wider range of cohesive devices like 'consequently', 'furthermore', or 'in contrast' to connect your ideas more naturally.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is limited and often repetitive. Phrases like 'spent money' and 'make things better' are used repeatedly, which restricts the range of expression. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'fast traveling' instead of 'high-speed travel' and 'it's work like waste of money'. The vocabulary is sufficient to convey basic meaning but lacks the precision and variety required for a higher band. You should aim to incorporate more topic-specific vocabulary related to infrastructure, public transport, and economic management to enhance your lexical range.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'some of population thinks'), incorrect verb forms (e.g., 'government should need to spent'), and sentence structure. The use of complex sentences is attempted but often results in errors, such as 'if government can planned multiples project... it have required some maintainence'. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with unnecessary spaces before commas. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, specifically the correct use of modal verbs and tense consistency.
