Student answer (Band 6.0)
Some people argue that we should construct railway tracks for new trains and some people argue that we should spend on existing system.
railways track must be important for any country because it provide different service you can travel rapidly by train and i think its a valuable facility and government should make new generations train for future. On the other hand railways has disadvantages as well however some time you want to go any certain place from where the railway track is too far. Moreover you can use only it for going station to station if you want to go between the station you cannot go on train.
On the flip side existing should be enhance because you can go anywhere and everywhere by using metros and buses you can also travel inside the city or outside the city by using metros and buses. In addition to this it has some disadvantages like road accidents will increase and these vehicles speed are very low so most of the people will use their private vehicles.
In my opinion we should work on existing system because it is very significant than train. it will be more useful for citizens however it is slow. Government should pay attention to this and make separate road for buses and metros.
In conclusion i will say that existing system is very important to improve for example in Europe citizens normally prefer public vehicles and they have separate road for them and we should also pay attention to them for making the country safe and secure.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is limited. For instance, the discussion on high-speed rail is brief and lacks specific examples or logical depth. The arguments regarding existing public transport are also somewhat repetitive and lack a clear explanation of why they are 'more significant' than high-speed rail. To improve, you should expand on your points with more detailed reasoning and concrete examples, ensuring that each paragraph contributes meaningfully to the overall argument rather than just stating general observations.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. For example, 'On the flip side' is used to introduce the second viewpoint, but the transition between ideas within paragraphs is sometimes abrupt. Referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the sentence 'you can use only it for going station to station', where the pronoun 'it' lacks a clear antecedent. Improving the variety and accuracy of linking words and ensuring that each sentence flows logically from the previous one will significantly enhance the coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but remains quite basic and repetitive. You frequently use simple terms like 'important', 'make', and 'go'. There is little evidence of less common lexical items or an awareness of collocation. For example, 'make new generations train' is an awkward phrasing that could be improved to 'develop next-generation high-speed rail networks'. To reach a higher band, you should aim to incorporate more precise vocabulary related to transport and infrastructure, and work on using words in their correct collocations to express your ideas more naturally.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response relies heavily on simple sentence structures. While there are some attempts at complex sentences, they are often marred by grammatical errors, such as missing articles ('the railway track'), incorrect verb forms ('existing should be enhance'), and punctuation issues. Subject-verb agreement is also inconsistent, for example, 'railways track must be important'. These frequent errors occasionally impede the flow of the text. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, including correct subject-verb agreement and article usage, before attempting more complex structures. Proofreading for basic errors like missing plurals or incorrect verb tenses is essential.
