Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a personal opinion, meeting the basic requirements of the prompt. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. For example, the argument for high-speed rail is limited to 'convenience' and 'time-saving' without exploring broader economic or environmental impacts. Similarly, the points regarding existing public transport are repetitive and lack depth. While the position is clear, the supporting arguments would benefit from more specific, logical elaboration rather than general statements. The conclusion is present but lacks a strong summary of the main points discussed.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organised into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. Phrases like 'To commence with' and 'Apart from this' are used, but the logical flow between sentences is sometimes disrupted by awkward phrasing. Referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the sentence 'Which we can fulfile by providing extreme funds', where the relative pronoun does not clearly link to the previous idea. The progression of ideas is present but feels somewhat disjointed due to the repetitive nature of the sentence structures.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks precision and variety. There is a reliance on informal or imprecise phrasing, such as 'bundle of money', 'uncountable money', and 'extreme funds'. Some collocations are unnatural, such as 'give suggestions' instead of 'argue' or 'propose'. While the student attempts to use a range of vocabulary, the word choice is often repetitive and occasionally inaccurate, which limits the ability to convey more complex ideas with nuance. More precise terminology related to infrastructure and urban planning would improve the score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede readability. Issues include subject-verb agreement ('everyone use it'), incorrect article usage, and awkward sentence construction ('railway lines act vital role'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with some sentences ending abruptly or lacking necessary commas. While the meaning is generally clear, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. The student should focus on sentence structure and ensuring that complex sentences are grammatically sound.
