Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, which significantly impacts the development of ideas. While the essay attempts to address both views, the discussion is severely underdeveloped. The second viewpoint is introduced but left almost entirely unexplored, and the conclusion is missing. The position is stated in the introduction, but the lack of depth and the failure to complete the task mean that the response is only partially addressed. To improve, you must expand on your arguments with more detailed explanations and examples, and ensure all parts of the prompt are fully covered.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay shows some attempt at logical organization, using basic transition signals like 'To commence with' and 'However'. However, the paragraphing is problematic; the second paragraph is fragmented, and the final paragraph is incomplete. The progression of ideas is hindered by the lack of content. Cohesive devices are used in a somewhat mechanical way, and the overall structure is not fully developed. To improve, focus on creating clear, balanced paragraphs that each contain a topic sentence, supporting evidence, and a concluding thought, ensuring a smooth flow between ideas.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and repetitive, with several errors in word choice and collocation. For example, 'public transport become bid problem' should be 'public transport has become a big problem', and 'in the regard' is an incorrect phrase. The range is insufficient to express complex ideas clearly. There are also issues with basic spelling and word formation, such as 'to spent' instead of 'spending'. To improve, focus on learning collocations and expanding your vocabulary related to transport and infrastructure, while paying closer attention to word forms.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.5

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement ('car and buses produces'), tense usage, and sentence structure. Many sentences are fragmented or lack necessary articles and prepositions. The range of structures is very limited, relying mostly on simple sentences with errors in basic syntax. To improve, focus on mastering subject-verb agreement, correct verb forms, and the use of articles. Practicing the construction of complex sentences will also help you move toward a higher band score.
