Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, reaching only 183 words. Consequently, the development of ideas is severely limited. While the essay attempts to address both views, the discussion is incomplete; the second body paragraph is cut off mid-sentence, and the conclusion is entirely missing. The position is stated in the introduction, but because the essay is unfinished, the argument is not fully developed or supported. To improve, you must ensure you complete all parts of the prompt and provide sufficient depth for each argument to meet the length requirement.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay shows some attempt at logical organization, using transition signals like 'To commence with' and 'However'. However, the abrupt ending and the lack of a conclusion significantly disrupt the flow of the text. Paragraphing is present but the second paragraph is incomplete, making the overall structure feel fragmented. Referencing is sometimes unclear, and the mechanical use of cohesive devices limits the ability to guide the reader through the argument effectively. To improve, focus on completing your paragraphs and ensuring a clear, logical progression from the introduction through to a final summary.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for basic communication but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. There are several instances of awkward phrasing and word choice errors, such as 'spending more amount of money' instead of 'spending larger sums of money' and 'prospective' used incorrectly for 'perspectives'. The repetition of basic terms like 'transportation' and 'money' suggests a limited vocabulary. To improve, try to incorporate more precise academic collocations and avoid repetitive phrasing. Focus on using words that accurately reflect the context of urban planning and infrastructure.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and some attempted complex structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'This essay will be outline not only the both prospective', which contains multiple errors in verb tense and article usage. There are also issues with punctuation, such as unnecessary spaces before periods and commas. The sentence construction is often clunky, which affects the overall readability. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence structures, subject-verb agreement, and correct article usage before attempting more complex grammatical forms.
