Student answer (Band 5.0)
The given topic has a great significance and should be discussed so people could get some awareness. In my point of view I will give an unbiased opinion no doubt it is necessary that the money should be consumed on constructing the existing railway sector to make it more developed. It will help in the betterment of the people and will give more ease and new facilities to the people. But what is the benefit of this all if the existing facilities are so poor and underdeveloped that people dislike to travel in them or feel ashamed to use them.
It has caused a bad perception of local transport among the people of the society. So firstly the trust should be re gained so if we take steps to open new facilities in local transport. The people could feel confident about them. In this way the more number of people would get attracted towards the local facilities, it will also cause to produce more revenue which can be further used for the better new projects. But the first step should be to re develop the existing facilities so the people could use them more in number because without the usage there is no benefit of opening new projects or starting new trains it will only cause loss to the company. By improving the facilities the demand will increase and then there will be benefit of opening new project. so the trust of the users should be regained.
If I talk about myself I don't like to travel on local transport just because of the under development in the sector and i have given all the suggestions by considering my personal experiences

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses the prompt but fails to discuss both views adequately. While the writer mentions the need for new railway lines, the argument is heavily skewed toward improving existing infrastructure. The prompt requires a balanced discussion of both perspectives before providing a personal opinion. The ideas are repetitive, focusing almost exclusively on 'trust' and 'revenue' without exploring the broader benefits of high-speed rail, such as economic connectivity or environmental impact. Consequently, the development of the 'new railway lines' side of the argument is insufficient, leading to a limited response.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the progression of ideas is circular and repetitive. The transition between the two viewpoints is weak, and the use of cohesive devices is mechanical and sometimes inaccurate (e.g., 'So firstly the trust should be re gained so if we take steps...'). Referencing is often unclear, and the internal logic within paragraphs is hampered by redundant phrasing, which makes the argument feel disjointed. The essay lacks a clear, logical flow that would guide the reader through the two distinct viewpoints requested by the task.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and repetitive. The writer relies on basic terms like 'betterment', 'facilities', and 'projects' throughout the text. There is little attempt to use less common lexical items or precise collocations related to transport or urban planning. Phrases such as 'consumed on constructing' and 'cause to produce more revenue' are unnatural. While the meaning is generally conveyed, the lack of variety and the frequent use of simplistic language restrict the score to the lower end of the scale.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but accuracy is inconsistent. There are frequent errors in punctuation, such as missing commas and run-on sentences (e.g., 'So firstly the trust should be re gained so if we take steps to open new facilities in local transport. The people could feel confident...'). Subject-verb agreement and article usage are also problematic. While the errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to demonstrate a lack of control over complex structures.
