Student answer (Band 6.0)
In a few of countries, some individuals it is important to invest huge sums of money on building latest railway lines for very rapid trains between cities. Another argue the money should be invested on modernizing existing public transport.
In many countries some people consider it railway lines are more important than public transport. They described that when we improve railway lines, than the life become very easy. They also mentioned that it is very necessary for public because its make travel too much fast. for example when we cannot face the crowed than we can reach our destintion very easily and fast.
On the other hand the 70% peoples told that public transport is very necessary more than railway lines. They told that some times we should want enjoy city views. On the other hand, improving existing public transport may benefit a larger number of people. Better buses, trains and metro systems can reduce traffic congestion, pollution and travelling costs. For example, upgrading local transport networks would make daily commuting easier for workers and students, especially in crowded cities. Moreover, these improvements are usually cheaper and can be implemented more quickly than building completely new railway lines. This would also help low-income people travel conveniently and safely.
In my opinion, governments should prioritise improving existing public transport rather than spending huge amounts on high-speed railway lines. Although fast trains can connect major cities efficiently, better local transport serves more people every day. Therefore, investing in affordable and reliable public transport would provide greater benefits to society overall.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, including both views and a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is uneven. The first body paragraph is quite weak, relying on vague statements like 'the life become very easy' and 'its make travel too much fast' without sufficient elaboration. In contrast, the second body paragraph is much stronger, providing specific benefits such as reduced congestion and pollution. The introduction is also somewhat disjointed and contains grammatical errors that hinder the clarity of the initial position. To improve, ensure that both sides of the argument are developed with equal depth and logical support, avoiding repetitive or overly simplistic phrasing.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organised into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is inconsistent. While there are some appropriate transitions like 'On the other hand' and 'Moreover', other parts feel disjointed. For instance, the transition between the first and second body paragraphs is abrupt, and the referencing is sometimes unclear, such as 'The 70% peoples told that...' which is an awkward way to introduce a perspective. The flow of ideas within the first body paragraph is also mechanical and lacks logical progression. Improving the variety and accuracy of linking words would significantly enhance the overall coherence.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and range required for a higher band. There are several instances of awkward word choice, such as 'latest railway lines' instead of 'new' or 'high-speed', and 'the 70% peoples' which is grammatically incorrect. The essay relies on basic descriptors like 'very necessary' and 'very easy', which limits the sophistication of the argument. To achieve a higher score, you should aim to use more precise collocations and a wider range of academic vocabulary, such as 'infrastructure investment', 'urban mobility', or 'cost-effective solutions', rather than repeating simple adjectives.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. Examples include 'some individuals it is important' (missing verb), 'than the life become' (incorrect usage of 'than' and subject-verb agreement), and 'its make travel' (incorrect pronoun). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing spaces after periods in some places. While the meaning is generally clear, the high frequency of errors in basic sentence construction prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. Focusing on subject-verb agreement, correct article usage, and sentence structure will help improve your accuracy.
