Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, reaching only 134 words. Consequently, the task is only partially addressed. The essay introduces the two perspectives but fails to develop them sufficiently or provide a clear, sustained opinion. The argument is cut off mid-sentence, meaning the conclusion and the majority of the required discussion are missing. To improve, you must ensure you fully explore both viewpoints and provide a clear, supported opinion while meeting the length requirement.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay shows some attempt at organization with an introduction and the start of a body paragraph. However, the progression is severely hampered by the incomplete nature of the text. Cohesive devices are used in a very basic and sometimes mechanical way, such as 'In modern era' and 'Therefore'. Paragraphing is present but ineffective because the ideas are not fully developed. The lack of a conclusion and the abrupt ending significantly disrupt the logical flow of the argument.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and repetitive, which restricts the ability to communicate complex ideas. There are noticeable errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'In different continent' (should be 'On different continents') and 'built new railway lines' (should be 'building'). The range is insufficient to discuss the topic with any degree of precision or sophistication. To achieve a higher band, you need to expand your vocabulary to include more topic-specific terms related to infrastructure and public policy.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally cause difficulty for the reader. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues like 'other thinks' (should be 'others think') and 'government wants to spent' (should be 'government wants to spend'). Sentence structures are mostly simple, and there is a lack of complex sentence forms. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing articles and incorrect capitalization. The incomplete sentences further detract from the overall grammatical control.
