Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, which significantly impacts the development of ideas. While you attempt to address both views, the arguments are superficial and lack the necessary depth required for an Academic Task 2 essay. The personal anecdote about traveling to Karachi is too informal and does not effectively support the broader discussion on infrastructure investment. Furthermore, the position is not clearly maintained throughout the essay. To improve, you must expand your arguments with more logical reasoning and ensure you meet the length requirement to allow for full development of your ideas.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is divided into paragraphs, but the logical progression of ideas is weak. The use of cohesive devices is mechanical and sometimes inaccurate, such as the abrupt transition 'On the other hand.' and the repetitive use of 'Nowadays.' Referencing is often unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the flow of your argument. To achieve a higher band, you should use a wider range of linking words (e.g., 'consequently,' 'furthermore,' 'in contrast') and ensure that each paragraph has a clear central topic sentence that connects logically to the next.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
Your vocabulary is limited and repetitive, relying on basic terms like 'very,' 'easy,' and 'important.' There are several instances of awkward word choices and incorrect collocations, such as 'easy ness' instead of 'ease' and 'expansive' instead of 'expensive.' You also struggle with word forms, such as 'access able' instead of 'accessible.' To improve, you should focus on learning topic-specific vocabulary related to transport and infrastructure and practice using synonyms to avoid repeating the same words throughout the text.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'There are many countries spend money'), article usage, and sentence structure. Many sentences are simple, and attempts at more complex structures often result in errors, such as 'Before one year I went to karachi... on train.' Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the misuse of full stops. You need to focus on basic sentence construction, verb tenses, and proofreading to eliminate these frequent errors.
