Student answer (Band 6.0)
Society is divided into altruistic and egocentric mind-sets of people. Although some masses hold the viewpoint that some people think it is necessary to spend large sums of money on constructing new railways lines for very fast trains between cities. because of Environmental benefit and daily utility for the masses. I believe that the money should be spent on improving existing public transport.
On the one hand, the main reason why some masses favor the former statement is because building high speed railways line provide faster and more comfortable journey for citizens. People and travel long distance in a shorter period of time, which is especially students. For instance, a survey conducted by transport department has provided concrete evidence by highlighting that 40% of people help to easy go anywhere.
On the other hand, I believe that the latter point of view supporters give the major reason of public transport can benefit a much larger number of people. In many cities, buses and local trains are overcrowded, and sometimes its uncomfortable. if governments spend money on increasing the number of buses, improving railways services and making public transport more reliable, ordinary people have can better daily journey. Another reason to be given by them is save time. they give reason due to adding more buses during busy hours can reduce waiting times and make travelling easier for students and employees.
To conclude, even though people support that money on constructing new railways lines for very fast trains between cities. I believe that the money should be spend on improving public transpaort

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both views and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. The arguments regarding high-speed rail are generic, and the supporting example about a 'transport department survey' is vague and lacks specific detail. The discussion on improving existing transport is more relevant but remains superficial. The introduction contains a significant error where the prompt's question is repeated as a statement, which impacts the clarity of the opening. To improve, you should provide more concrete, real-world examples and ensure that each paragraph fully explores the implications of the arguments presented rather than just stating them.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas. Cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand', 'On the other hand', and 'To conclude' are used to signal the structure. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical, and there are instances where referencing is unclear, such as the phrase 'the latter point of view supporters'. Additionally, some sentences are fragmented, particularly in the introduction, which disrupts the flow. Improving the transition between sentences and ensuring that pronouns clearly refer to their antecedents would enhance the overall coherence of the essay.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. There is some repetition of basic terms like 'money', 'people', and 'transport'. Some word choices are unnatural or inaccurate, such as 'some masses' (which is not standard usage) and 'help to easy go anywhere'. There are also minor errors in word formation, such as 'transpaort'. To achieve a higher score, you should aim to use a wider variety of topic-specific vocabulary and collocations, such as 'infrastructure investment', 'commuter congestion', or 'urban mobility', rather than relying on simple, repetitive phrasing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede readability. Examples include sentence fragments ('because of Environmental benefit...'), subject-verb agreement issues ('building high speed railways line provide'), and incorrect verb forms ('money should be spend'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with several sentences starting with lowercase letters or containing unnecessary periods. While the meaning is generally clear, the high frequency of these errors prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for subject-verb agreement would be highly beneficial.
