Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses both sides of the argument, but the development is weak and often unclear. While you mention the benefits of high-speed rail for trade and the benefits of public transport for social equality, the ideas are not fully extended or supported with logical reasoning. The connection between the points is often tenuous, and the personal opinion is introduced late and lacks a clear link to the preceding arguments. The final sentence regarding 'an elephant to his family' is confusing and irrelevant to the prompt, which significantly impacts the overall task response. To improve, ensure each paragraph focuses on a single, well-developed idea that directly supports your position.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay lacks a clear structure. Paragraphing is present but does not effectively separate the different viewpoints or the introduction and conclusion. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'While in other side' and 'To overcome over all the issues', but they are often used incorrectly or mechanically, which hinders the flow of ideas. The progression of the argument is difficult to follow because the sentences do not always logically connect to one another. To improve, use clear topic sentences for each paragraph and ensure that transition words are used to show logical relationships between sentences rather than just acting as fillers.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and often repetitive. There are several instances of awkward word choices and collocations, such as 'keeping a positive eye on working of government officials' and 'train passage'. Some phrases are unclear or grammatically incorrect, such as 'business man living all around concern cities'. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to express complex ideas clearly, and there is a reliance on basic or misused terminology. To improve, focus on learning collocations and using more precise academic vocabulary to convey your meaning accurately.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text that often impede communication. Issues include incorrect verb forms ('could took place'), missing articles, and awkward sentence structures. The essay relies heavily on simple sentence structures, and attempts at more complex sentences often result in errors, such as 'Where people think to spend money it also seems necessary...'. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with spaces missing before commas and periods. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, subject-verb agreement, and the correct use of articles before attempting more complex grammatical structures.
