Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.5
The response attempts to address both views regarding high-speed railways versus existing public transport and gives a mixed opinion that governments should invest in both. However, the development of ideas is limited, repetitive, and lacks specific examples or deep elaboration. Furthermore, the length requirement of 250 words is not met as the text contains only 243 words, resulting in a necessary penalty for under-length and a lack of full task fulfillment. Phrases like 'Governments should invest money in publice transport so it will easy to goods' demonstrate undeveloped and confusing arguments. The position is stated but remains simplistic throughout.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0
The response shows some basic structural organisation with paragraph breaks, but there is a clear lack of overall logical progression. Sentences within paragraphs are frequently disjointed and repetitive, making it difficult to follow the line of argument. Cohesive devices are used awkwardly or inaccurately, such as 'Similarly, By looking these both problems both will play a crucial role' and 'overall, roads transports system'. Paragraphing is attempted, but internal cohesion fails to link ideas smoothly, resulting in a mechanical and confusing flow.
Lexical Resource — Band 4.0
Vocabulary is basic and repetitive throughout the essay, with frequent instances of inappropriate word choices and word formation errors, such as 'constract' instead of construction, 'rapidly fast', 'publice', and 'carries goods with in cheap time'. The student attempts some topic-related vocabulary like 'transport system' and 'raw materials', but these are used inaccurately or redundantly. Errors in spelling and collocation place a heavy strain on the reader and impede clear communication in several places.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0
The grammatical range is very limited. Most sentences feature basic structures that are either incomplete or structurally flawed. There are frequent, heavy errors in grammar, punctuation, and syntax, such as 'many individuals believe that it is necessary to spend huge money in constract of new railways lines building construction rapidly fast' and 'It will reduce vehicle pollutions amd suitable for people'. Complex structures are rarely attempted accurately, and frequent grammatical errors cause significant difficulty for the reader.
