Student answer (Band 4.5)

Some countries peoples think it is necessary to spend large sums of money on constructing new railway lines for very fast trains between cities .but some peoples think that money should be investing in existing public transport. This kind of thing happend in many other countries.

In my opinion spend large amount of money on constructing new railway was a good thing but public tranport was also innitial thing to spend money. although the money was spended in a good things both things are an good part to humans. spend money in railway was good but the existing public transport should have been a good part to publics, schoolers. however money wasn't enough to spend in bvoth product but one thing is important to public . Government choose the budget to working in one thing

So, i believe that spend money in construction a new railway. because railway was most important than public tranport. although the railway was most important thing because it's not only my opinion it's a publics opinion. I believe that construction a new railway was a good thing but it's cost lot of economy.

On the other hand some peoples says that spend money in railway was not a good spend money in existing public transport was a good think to spend budget. because reailway wasn't a good to spend money public transport is the main thing to spending a money.

peoples says that many kind of things to illiustrate i beleive that spending a money in long lasting and neverthless although the construction of railway iwas a long lasting this .so, in my opinion constructing a new railway was a better to spend money in public transport .

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The student attempts to address both views regarding whether to spend money on high-speed railways or existing public transport, and offers a personal opinion, satisfying the basic requirements of the prompt. However, the development of ideas is limited and repetitive. For example, the student writes, 'In my opinion spend large amount of money on constructing new railway was a good thing but public tranport was also innitial thing.' The arguments lack clear expansion, often looping back to the same points about money and importance without providing specific reasons or well-developed examples. The position is stated, but the reasoning remains vague and superficial, characteristic of a Band 5 performance.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0

The response is organized into paragraphs, attempting an introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. However, the overall progression is difficult to follow due to poor logical links and frequent abrupt shifts. Cohesive devices are used awkwardly or inaccurately, such as 'however money wasn't enough to spend in bvoth product' and 'illiustrate i beleive'. Referencing is frequently unclear, making it hard to determine which view the student is addressing in certain sentences. Paragraphing is present, but internal cohesion is weak and mechanical, aligning closely with Band 4 descriptors.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.0

Vocabulary usage is basic, repetitive, and heavily restricted. The student frequently repeats words like 'money', 'spend', 'railway', and 'public transport' throughout the text. There are numerous word-form and spelling errors that impede understanding, such as 'peoples', 'happend', 'innitial', 'spended', 'bvoth', 'reailway', and 'illiustrate'. The range of vocabulary is inadequate for discussing abstract economic or infrastructural arguments effectively, indicating a Band 4 level.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.0

The grammatical structure of the essay is severely compromised by pervasive errors. Simple sentence forms are handled poorly, and attempts at complex structures result in frequent non-sensical or broken phrases, such as 'although the money was spended in a good things both things are an good part to humans.' Punctuation and capitalization are erratic (e.g., lowercase letters at the start of sentences like 'So, i believe...'). Errors are extremely frequent, often distorting meaning and causing significant strain for the reader, which places the grammar solidly in Band 4.
