Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

The response attempts to address the prompt by discussing the two views on public transport spending and offering an opinion favouring high-speed railway construction. However, the development of ideas is limited and somewhat tangential. While the writer mentions economic growth, GDP, and resource preservation, the points remain under-developed and are presented in a disjointed manner without deep exploration. The position is stated, but the reasoning lacks the depth and extension required for higher bands. The arguments remain repetitive around the theme of GDP and economic expansion, meaning the task is only partially addressed in terms of thorough discussion and support.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0

The information and ideas are not arranged coherently throughout the text. The essay lacks clear overall progression and logical sequencing, as demonstrated by the fragmented list format ('the gdp will increse / the profit will increse') and sudden shifts between topics. Paragraphing is highly irregular, with a breakdown in standard essay structure and a heavy reliance on informal lists rather than cohesive prose. Cohesive devices are either missing or inadequate, making it difficult for the reader to follow a logical line of argument from one paragraph to the next.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

Vocabulary use is basic and repetitive, utilizing a limited range of words such as 'growth', 'transport', 'city', and 'increase'. There are numerous spelling errors and incorrect word forms throughout the text, including 'personnaly', 'enthusisrtic', 'contyinusLY', 'desil', 'insted', 'easly', 'vicely', 'effeciently', 'genrate', 'electrcity', 'spource', and 'openion'. These lexical errors and a lack of varied, precise vocabulary strain the reader and reflect a restricted lexical repertoire, consistent with a basic operational level.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The grammatical range is very limited, relying heavily on simple structures and faulty attempts at complex sentences. Frequent errors occur across sentence structures, verb tenses, articles, and punctuation, such as missing capitalisation ('i am personnaly', 'thinKs'), incorrect subject-verb agreement ('the transport are good', 'transport get too short'), and awkward phrasing ('if we go with the option one which is to build the new transp[then the gdp will increse'). Punctuation and capitalization are erratic, and grammatical errors are frequent enough to distort meaning in places, though the general drift of the argument remains partially discernible.
