Student answer (Band 5.0)

Numerous generation suppose that it is demanding thing that to consume massive sums of budget shoud spend for building new railways lines for highly velocity trains between cities. while others consider that expenses should be spent on improving existing local transport.

From my side, I believe both thoughts having valuable remarks. By building new tracks among cities can facilitates the people most. it can help to overcome the fuel consumption which is widely used in personl cars. moreover, it can reduce the trafic turnover on road which is beneficial to the climate.

This decision also controls the trafic accidents on road and facilitates the midioker community those who cannot bear the fuel prices. on the other hand, the risk of train accident is less than the average of road trafiic accidents. this is the main feature that i personally like the most. whenever i have to go to a long journey i prefer train instead of other road transport.

public transport having their own value among people. some people believe that spending money on public transport can reduce the traffic rate on roads. people whom invest a lot of money for fuel in their personal convince should be able to save their recources for their new upcoming generations. we all knows that the usa and iran war is going on and the fuel prices touching to the sky.

It is a very remarkable decision of people that they shown interest in both situations.

at the end i would like to says that both thoughts are beneficial for public and government too.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response addresses the task only partially, attempting to discuss both views regarding fast trains versus improving public transport and giving a personal opinion. However, the ideas remain limited and under-developed throughout the essay. For instance, the discussion on fuel consumption and reducing traffic turnover is stated simply without extension or detailed supporting examples. The student's position is discernible, but the expression of arguments is repetitive and lacks full elaboration. To move to a higher level, the writer needs to present well-developed main ideas with clear extensions and relevant examples, ensuring that both views are fully explored and supported with deeper reasoning.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

The essay displays some organisation and paragraphing, but there is no clear overall progression of ideas from start to finish. Cohesive devices are frequently inadequate, inaccurate, or repetitive, such as the frequent reliance on 'on the other hand' and 'moreover' used without smooth transitions. Paragraphing is attempted, but thoughts are disjointed, and referencing is occasionally unclear, such as shifting abruptly between train travel, public transport, and external geopolitical events like 'the usa and iran war'. To improve coherence, the writer should ensure logical sequencing between sentences and paragraphs, using a wider and more accurate range of cohesive devices to guide the reader seamlessly through the arguments.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is limited and minimally adequate for the task. The student attempts some less common vocabulary items, but these are accompanied by noticeable errors in word choice, collocation, and form, such as 'massive sums of budget shoud spend', 'highly velocity trains', 'midioker community', and 'personal convince'. Spelling errors also occur, such as 'trafic' and 'recsources', which occasionally cause difficulty for the reader. To achieve a higher score, the writer must expand their lexical range and demonstrate greater control over word formation and collocation, using precise terms appropriate for an academic discussion without relying on awkward phrasing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The grammar demonstrates a very limited range of structures, with frequent errors that can cause difficulty for the reader. The student attempts complex sentences, but these are often faulty, featuring significant structural issues such as 'it is demanding thing that to consume' and 'people whom invest a lot of money'. There are also frequent errors in verb forms, tenses, subject-verb agreement, and articles, such as 'train accident is less than' and 'we all knows'. Punctuation control is weak, with inconsistent capitalisation at the start of sentences. To progress, the writer needs to produce a greater variety of error-free sentences and improve control over basic grammatical patterns and agreements.
