Student answer (Band 5.0)
There are many countries that want to invest money on railway tracks for better transport system. However, some countries want to invest on existing railway tracks. Those countries who built already railway tracks and their routes are successful they are increasing it so that people from different cities reach fastly and safely and they are still investing on them such as United Kingdom and Japan. Contrarory to, some countries are failed to provide facilities to prople from existing railway tracks so, they just want to invest on existing tracks and find an other ways for transportation to facilitate people such as, Pakistan and India so, they hesitate to invest on railway tracks that can unite cities in less time. In my opinion, It varies in country to country, some countries have easy routes that can make proper tracks to facilitate public but some countries have very difficult routes it cost huge money and it doesnot provide such kind of facilities according to investment therefore, countries stopped to invest on further railway tracks and improving on previous railway tracks that are helpful for the public. Moreover, there are different policies of different governments that are deciding the best things for their public. If ee see railway tracks in developed countries they are making more tracks and uniting cities and countrues to travel easily on railway we can take example of Europe that has excellent railway tracks and that are facilitating public. Therefore, It depends on counties some are investing money on railway tracks and some are investing on existing according to need of their public facilities.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by discussing both constructing new railway lines and improving existing public transport, and it includes a personal opinion regarding how country-specific needs dictate this choice. However, the development of ideas is limited and at times repetitive. While examples such as the United Kingdom, Japan, Pakistan, and India are mentioned, they are under-developed and lack sufficient explanation to fully support the argument. The position is stated but becomes somewhat blurred by generalizations and repetitive phrasing near the end of the essay. To reach a higher level, the ideas need to be more fully extended and supported with clearer reasoning and more detailed examples.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
The essay lacks proper paragraphing, being presented as a single, dense block of text, which significantly hinders the logical flow and overall organization. While there are some basic cohesive devices used such as 'However', 'Contrarory to', and 'Moreover', referencing is often unclear, and transitions between ideas feel mechanical and abrupt. There is a lack of overall progression, causing the essay to circle back on the same points rather than developing them step by step. To improve in this criterion, the writer must divide the response into clear paragraphs corresponding to introduction, body paragraphs addressing each view, opinion, and conclusion, while employing cohesive devices more naturally.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is limited and minimally adequate for the task. The writer attempts some less common vocabulary, such as 'transportation' and 'investment', but there are noticeable errors in word choice, collocation, and word form throughout the text. Examples include 'reach fastly', 'Contrarory to', and 'countries are failed', which cause some difficulty for the reader and impede smooth communication. Spelling and morphological control need strengthening. To achieve a higher band, the writer should incorporate a wider range of precise lexical items and demonstrate better control over word forms and collocations.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The writer demonstrates a limited range of sentence structures, relying heavily on simple clauses and repetitive patterns. Attempts at complex sentences are frequently faulty, leading to run-on sentences and grammatical inaccuracies. There are frequent errors in verb tenses, subject-verb agreement, and prepositions, such as 'want to invest money on', 'Those countries who built already railway tracks', and 'It varies in country to country'. Punctuation is also weak, with commas and capitalization used incorrectly in several places. These frequent errors cause strain for the reader. To improve, the writer needs to increase grammatical accuracy and practice forming complex sentences with proper subordination and punctuation.
