Student answer (Band 6.0)
Several individuals believe that investing major funds in the making of brand new railway lines for bullet trains is crucial, while some argue that funds should be utilized on the maintenance of current public transport. In my opinion, the construction of new railways lines can be more beneficial because it comes with latest technology, high build quality and provide more convenience to individuals to travel to different cities.
Most of the latest railway lines are bulit in such a way that it can handle the fast-pace advanced technology trains. These high-speed trains have the ability to move at almost 300km per hour or sometimes even faster. The latest railway lines have the ability to tackle this speed because of its high build quality and international standards. Moreover, bullet trains can significantly reduce the travel time to approximately half. It will provide more convenience to the citezens and businesses. For example, when Dubai and Japan introduced bullet trains and they invested a massive budget in their rail tracks, these countries got a very possitive response from public in terms of convenience.
On the other hand, several people believe that improving current public transport is more beneficial. Their supporters say it is less expensive and people are used to it. Although, it can be budget friendly, It is not a long-term solution. They also argue that people will not accept the latest teachnology due to its unfamilarity, but they do not know new things take time to learn. If a country has limited budget only then the country should go for maintenance. For instance, a developing country like Pakistan with limted budget for transport should opt for improving existing transport.
In conclusion, I strongly agree that a large amount of funds should be used for the construction of new railway lines that support fast trains, because it come with advanced technology and provide easiness to people to travel between cities.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You discuss both proposals and state a consistent preference for new high-speed railway lines, so the main requirements are addressed. The first body paragraph gives relevant reasons—faster journeys, modern infrastructure and convenience—and the example of Dubai and Japan attempts to support these points. The opposing view is also represented through cost, familiarity and the Pakistan example. However, the comparison is not developed equally: the case for improving existing transport is mostly summarised rather than explained, and the claim that it is “not a long-term solution” is asserted without showing why. Some claims, including the public response in the example, would be more convincing with specific evidence. Develop the trade-offs and explain how each example supports your position more precisely.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, one paragraph for each view, and a conclusion that restates your position. The contrast between the views is easy to follow, and signposts such as “On the other hand” and “In conclusion” help readers navigate the argument. This logical arrangement is a strength. At times, however, connections between claims are mechanical or unclear. For example, “Although, it can be budget friendly, It is not a long-term solution” does not clearly explain the relationship between affordability and the claimed limitation. The sentence about unfamiliar technology also moves quickly from the opposing argument to your rebuttal. Use linking and referencing to show the reasoning between points, and organise each body paragraph around a more clearly developed central argument.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of topic vocabulary, including “high-speed trains,” “international standards,” “travel time” and “limited budget,” and the meaning is generally clear. There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “utilized” and “significantly reduce.” However, some word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, including “making of brand new railway lines,” “high build quality,” “provide more convenience,” and “opt for improving.” Spelling errors such as “bulit,” “citezens,” “possitive,” “teachnology,” “unfamilarity” and “limted” also reduce accuracy. Aim for more natural transport-related collocations and proofread spelling; this would make your vocabulary more precise and flexible.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including a relative clause in “trains have the ability to move…” and a conditional construction in “If a country has limited budget…”. Most ideas remain understandable, but errors in agreement, articles, verb forms and punctuation occur across the response. For example, “it comes with latest technology” needs an article, while “it come with advanced technology and provide easiness” has agreement problems and an awkwardly formed final clause. In “Although, it can be budget friendly, It is not a long-term solution,” the punctuation and capitalisation are also faulty. Work on checking the subject and verb in each clause, and practise punctuating concessive and conditional sentences. Greater accuracy in these patterns would strengthen your range.
