Student answer (Band 5.5)

In a specific countries, a group of society have a strong believe to spend a large amount of country's budget on construction of new railway lines for advanced trains inside the big cities while few thinks that money should be used on improving the public transport. In this case, I strongly believe that amount should be used on the construction of railway track for high-speed trains.

The reasons behind the thinking of some individuals is that it is a huge develpoment for any country that having a express railway system. It should increase the number of regular travellers and tourists to use the fast train, which may help them to reach their office or destinations on time that could be result in country's economic growth. For instances, Japan has the world's fastest train called bullet train which run on the approximately 500km\h. It is also a world record but thats not the main thing, the main thing is that how much benefits have their government and public. Japan has the best country for travellers.

While the people have other kind of mentality think that it is good to improve the public transport which is existing rather than spending a large amount on constructing a new track. In small cities, which are not capable of having a railway station, we should build a bus stop which is quite cheaper. For example, In europe trains has a significant role in travelling but the main reason behind their popularity is their best bus transport system which could help travellers to travel the small towns and every corner of country.

In my opinion, both have their own benefits and drawbacks but i strongly believe that constructing a fast railway track could be the better option. Because every person have now their own vehicle so, he could travel the city but if you want to go to another city you should definately need a better and fast transporting option that is not other than express train. It is conveient and relaible.

In conclusion, people who think that public transport should be better they are right with their own mentality but in my personal opinion constructing a fast railway lines for express trains could be more beneficial.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both sides of the discussion and state a clear preference for high-speed rail in the introduction and conclusion. The points about faster intercity journeys, economic benefits and buses serving smaller towns are relevant, and the Japan and Europe examples help illustrate the views. However, the case for improving existing transport is less fully explained than your argument for new railways, and some support is unclear: “Japan has the best country for travellers” does not show specifically how the bullet train benefits the public. To strengthen the response, explain the trade-offs more fully—for example, who would benefit from each investment and why—and develop your examples with precise links to your claims. This would make the discussion more balanced and the position better supported.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, your opinion, and a conclusion. This makes the main line of argument easy to identify. You also use signposts such as “For example,” “While,” and “In conclusion.” At times, however, connections are mechanical or unclear. The opening “In this case” does not clearly link the two positions to your opinion, and “While the people have other kind of mentality think” makes the transition difficult to follow. The opinion paragraph also repeats the preference already stated in the introduction without adding much progression. Use clearer topic sentences and refer explicitly to the previous point when contrasting ideas; ensure each paragraph advances the discussion rather than restating it.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “construction,” “economic growth,” “public transport,” and “express train,” so the reader can follow the subject. There are also attempts at more specific language, such as “regular travellers” and “significant role.” However, the range is limited and several word-choice, collocation, and spelling problems make the expression less natural: “a strong believe,” “huge development,” “best country for travellers,” and “fast transporting option” are awkward or imprecise. Spelling errors such as “develpoment,” “conveient,” and “relaible” are noticeable. Build a bank of accurate transport collocations and check word forms and spelling; more precise choices would help express your ideas without relying on repeated words such as “fast” and “better.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including a relative clause in “a bus stop which is quite cheaper” and a conditional structure in “if you want to go to another city.” The overall meaning is generally recoverable, but errors in agreement, articles, verb forms, and sentence construction occur across the response. For example, “a group of society have” has a subject–verb agreement problem, while “Japan has the world's fastest train … which run” does not maintain agreement between the relative pronoun and verb. The fragment “Because every person have now their own vehicle” is also not securely connected to the preceding sentence. Practise checking each sentence for a clear subject and finite verb, and review articles and singular/plural agreement. More accurate control of these patterns would make your varied sentences easier to read.
