Student answer (Band 6.0)

The transport system has evolved into much more advanced level throughout the world as it is a major mean for us to communicate and commute in order to strive in the society.

This is the era of globalization and the world around us is changing rapidly so is the need to be present everywhere. This global factor requires the commute to be very fast and distances to shrink. It can help us in numerous ways such as increase in productivity level which leads to the developement of the whole society. I can present this point of view of mine with an example as many people avoids travelling to other cities even for work due to the current obsolete infrastructure of Pakistan Railways. People constantly have to deal with late train arrivals, long journeys and uncomfortable experiences.

Moreover, improving and expanding railway infrastructure can encourage people to visit different places around them and explore the culture in their own country that they never knew existed. Many folks never took up such adventurous journeys due to the hassle and humiliation that the current railway transportation offers. The upgradation of the infrasturcture can provide them with a chance to clear their conscience by relaxing their minds in turn effecting their mental health positively.

However, A good public transportation system says a lot about the developement of the state as it nullifies the emphasis on the private transport for the commute intercity which is relatively expensive and non-environmental friendly. A well managed system of public transport can benefit not only the people but the state as well due to the numerous reason. Public will get a cheaper commute for completing their end to end tasks. Meanwhile, the state's developement also gets visible by this system as it will reflect their efforts for the betterment of their nation.

In my perspective, Railway sytem should be adapted to current modern innovative system with extensive covarage of railway lines throughout the country even to the remotest of areas as it is a need of an hour. On the other hand, efforts to improve the public transport system should be on par as well.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both sides of the discussion and give a clear preference for upgrading railway infrastructure while also improving public transport. The Pakistan Railways example—late arrivals, long journeys and uncomfortable travel—supports the case for investment, and you also explain that public transport can be cheaper and reduce reliance on private vehicles. However, the two views are not explored equally: the case for very fast intercity trains is not clearly distinguished from general railway expansion, and the public-transport paragraph makes broad claims without a concrete example or much explanation of how improvements would help. Develop each side with specific benefits and trade-offs, then make your final position more decisive about how funding should be balanced.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for railway investment and public transport, and a concluding opinion. Connectors such as “Moreover” and “However” help signal the movement between ideas. At times, though, the progression is less clear because related points are repeated or loosely connected. For example, the second paragraph moves from productivity to avoiding travel for work, while the next shifts to tourism and mental health without clearly showing how these points support the same argument. Some linking phrases, including “Meanwhile,” introduce a contrast that is not fully developed. Organise each body paragraph around one main claim, explain it, and use clearer references to connect examples back to that claim.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use a reasonably broad range of topic vocabulary, including “infrastructure,” “productivity,” “globalization,” and “public transportation,” and the meaning is generally clear. There are also attempts at less common expressions, but some are inaccurate or unnatural in context: “clear their conscience” does not fit the intended idea of relaxation, and “non-environmental friendly” is not a natural form. Spelling errors such as “developement,” “infrasturcture,” and “covarage” also reduce accuracy. Aim for precise, natural collocations rather than elaborate phrasing, and proofread spelling and word forms. For instance, describe travel as “uncomfortable” or “stressful,” and refer to transport as “less environmentally friendly.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentences, including clauses introduced by “as,” “which,” and “due to,” and most ideas remain understandable. Some grammatical errors occur, however. In “many people avoids travelling,” the plural subject requires “avoid”; “a major mean” needs a singular noun form; and “due to the numerous reason” requires a plural noun. The opening sentence also has an awkwardly joined structure in “as it is … so is the need,” which would be clearer as two sentences or with a more controlled linking construction. Review subject–verb agreement, articles, and sentence boundaries, while continuing to use complex structures carefully.
