Student answer (Band 6.0)

There is a contentious argument among people where few believe that it is really important to spend money on construction of new railway lines for fast trains between cities. While others reject this notion and believe that money should be spent on the development of already existing public transport. In the further I will discuss both point of view along with my own opinion with a logical conclusion.

The main importance of introducing super fast trains between cities is that people residing in different cities can have access to it where they don't require to change their cities for the purpose of work. Another benefit of these trains are that people can travel hassel free without spending long hours on travelling, hence can save time for other activities. For example, the launch of Vande Bharat train between cities in India has enabled to reach destination in relatively shorter period of time when compared to conventional trains.

Few people opine that attention should be shifted towards the development of existing public transport because these consists of many loopholes mainly due to the delayed train timings or at times train dosen't arrive at all. The ones who suffer the most are students and workers who travel everyday for the purpose of eduaction and jobs. Another problem is that public transport is always overcrowded because of fewer availabilty of options, in addition people have to stand for long hours due to lack of availabilty of seats. For instance, in Karnatakata students missed their exams due to train timings.

In conclusion I agree that new super fast trains with new railway lines is a positive development with improve commute between cities but certain expenditure should be allocated towards the already existing public transport by increasing the number of public vehicles with proper time management.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You address both views and give a clear preference: you support new fast-train lines while also recommending investment in existing services. The examples of Vande Bharat and students missing exams in Karnataka make the discussion relevant. However, the two sides are not developed equally: the case for fast trains focuses mainly on saving time, while the case for improving current transport lists delays and overcrowding without explaining how these problems affect wider communities or why upgrades may be more practical. Your conclusion introduces increasing public vehicles and better time management, but these proposals could be linked more explicitly to the arguments. The response covers the task, with some ideas needing fuller explanation and support.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The essay has a clear overall structure: an introduction, one paragraph for each view, and a conclusion. The progression from the benefits of fast trains to the shortcomings of existing transport is easy to follow, and phrases such as “Another benefit” and “For instance” help signal relationships between ideas. Some linking is mechanical or imprecise, however. The opening uses “While others” as a sentence fragment, and “In the further” does not clearly introduce the essay’s plan. Within the second body paragraph, the points about delays and overcrowding could be grouped and connected more explicitly. Clearer referencing and more natural transitions would make the organisation feel more controlled.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “railway lines,” “public transport,” “overcrowded,” and “commute,” and you attempt more formal expressions such as “contentious argument” and “allocated.” However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, which limits precision: “access to it” is unclear when referring to trains, “hassel free” is not the appropriate form, and “fewer availability” uses the wrong quantifier. Spelling errors such as “dosen't,” “eduaction,” and “Karnatakata” are noticeable. The range is sufficient to communicate the main ideas, but more accurate collocations and careful proofreading would make the vocabulary more effective and natural.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and complex forms, including a relative clause in “people residing in different cities” and a reason clause beginning “because.” The main meaning is generally understandable, but some sentence structures and agreement patterns are inaccurate. For example, “While others reject this notion” is a fragment, “Another benefit … are” has a subject–verb agreement error, and “these consists” also has incorrect agreement. The conclusion’s “with improve commute” does not form a grammatical phrase, and “In the further I will discuss” is not correctly constructed. Work on complete sentences, agreement, and verb forms, then proofread each sentence for grammatical accuracy.
