Student answer (Band 4.0)

In recent years, it is widely believed that constructing new railway lines for very fast trains serves a better purpose. But others believe that the money should be spent on improving existing public transport. But I am agree with both statements. In the forthcoming paragraphs, I shall explain why it is necessary to allocate constructing new lines and also improving public transport.

It is believed that science has contributed to the development of whole world. It has also introduced that constructing fast trains between cities is very beneficial for the people and they can easily survive in that time. In the emergency situation, they cannot face difficulty and easily reach to the destination. However, in this way, the money cannot be wasteable. The students can be very beneficial for the fast trains because all the time, when there is a busy transport the students can choose the

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.5

You introduce the topic and indicate that you will discuss both investment options, but the response does not fulfil the task sufficiently. Your position, “I am agree with both statements,” is unclear as an opinion because it does not explain how the two priorities should be balanced. The discussion of fast trains is brief and partly unclear, and there is no developed explanation of the case for improving existing public transport. The final sentence is unfinished (“students can choose the”), so the example cannot support your argument. The response contains 129 words, which is 121 words below the required minimum; 18 words copied from the task prompt were not counted. To improve, address both views, state a clear opinion, and develop each point with a reason and a relevant example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 3.5

There is a basic attempt to organise the response: an introductory paragraph is followed by a paragraph beginning “It is believed that science…”. Linking expressions such as “However” and “because” show an effort to connect ideas. However, the progression is difficult to follow because the introduction promises discussion of both options, while the body only begins to discuss fast trains. The repeated “But” in the opening also makes the connection between the opposing views awkward. Several references are unclear, including “in that time” and “in this way,” and the response ends mid-sentence. Use separate, focused paragraphs for each view, make references explicit, and ensure each paragraph develops one connected line of reasoning before moving to the next.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “constructing new railway lines,” “fast trains,” “emergency situation,” and “public transport,” so the reader can identify the general subject. There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “allocate” and “forthcoming paragraphs.” However, several choices are inaccurate or unnatural and make the meaning less clear: “serve a better purpose,” “easily survive in that time,” and “the money cannot be wasteable.” The phrase “science has contributed to the development of whole world” is broad and does not clearly support the transport argument. Aim for precise transport-related collocations, such as “reduce journey times,” “improve service reliability,” and “make efficient use of public funds,” and avoid formal expressions when a simpler, accurate phrase is available.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, for example, “It has also introduced that…” and “In the emergency situation, they cannot face difficulty and easily reach to the destination.” This shows an effort to connect clauses and explain consequences. However, errors in sentence construction and verb forms are noticeable, and some sentences are difficult to interpret. “I am agree” should be “I agree,” while “It has also introduced that” does not form a clear grammatical structure for the intended meaning. The final clause, “the students can choose the,” is incomplete. Articles and sentence boundaries also need attention. Practise building complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, then check agreement, articles, and whether each sentence has a finished main clause.
