Student answer (Band 4.5)
According to me ,everyone have their own choices and their own desires to like or to dislike something. They have their own opinions about something,so we cannot say is someone is right or he is wrong in his opinion. According to the statement that in some countries, some people think it is better to spend money on constructing better railway lines for very fast trains ,which is not a bad opinion. They might think that it is better to travel in fast train so they can easily go faster and reach from one city to other quickly. They might think that is much more relaxing and comfortable way of travelling ,so they want that these railway tracks should be imoroved and a much more money should spend on it for making it much more faster. But there are also some people who think that it is much better to improve our existing public transport. We cannot say them wrong on having this opinion,They think right according to my opinion because most of the people use public transport and if talking about our country Pakistan the public transport is not good enough there is much crowd and many other problems like not having enough public transport for the people and then they have to wait for the other one.So they think good that we should spend money on improving existing public transport and according to my opinion we should also bring more vehicles for public transport. So everybody have their own opinion and their choices,so those who like to travel in railway want to spend large money on constructing new railway and those who like public transport want to improve their public transport

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You address both views: fast trains are presented as quicker and more comfortable, while improving public transport is supported with the example of crowding and long waits in Pakistan. Your own preference is also apparent when you say existing transport should be improved and more vehicles added. However, the discussion remains limited and the position is not developed consistently: the opening says opinions cannot be judged, and the conclusion mainly repeats that people have different preferences rather than clearly weighing the options. Explain more fully why investment in everyday transport should take priority, and support the comparison with a specific consequence or example. This would make the response a more complete discussion rather than a brief presentation of the two opinions.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
The response has a recognisable sequence: a general introduction, discussion of fast rail, a contrasting view with a Pakistan example, and a closing statement. Connectors such as “But” and “So” help signal contrast and result. However, the ideas are largely placed in one extended paragraph, so the reader has little visual guidance through the discussion. Repeated transitions and repeated references to people’s “opinions” also make progression feel circular; the final sentence restates earlier points instead of drawing the argument together. Use separate paragraphs for the introduction, each view, and the conclusion, and make each paragraph advance one main point. Clearer referencing would also help readers follow which group or transport option is being discussed.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You use enough basic topic vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “railway lines,” “public transport,” “crowd,” and “comfortable.” The Pakistan example also gives the response some relevant transport-specific language. However, vocabulary is repetitive and often imprecise: “better,” “much more,” “think,” and “opinion” recur, while phrases such as “spend large money” and “reach from one city to other” are not natural collocations. There are also spelling errors, including “imoroved,” which reduce accuracy. Build a wider set of precise terms for transport investment and its effects, and check spelling and common word combinations. This will make the comparison clearer and more fluent without changing your central ideas.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
You attempt some longer sentences to explain reasons and contrast the two views, and the main message is generally understandable. However, sentence structures are often joined together without clear control, and errors occur frequently in agreement, articles, and clause formation. Examples include “everyone have,” “we cannot say is someone is right,” “a much more money should spend,” and “everybody have.” Several sentences run on for many clauses, with punctuation that does not reliably mark sentence boundaries. Practise forming accurate simple sentences first, then combine them with controlled clauses using “because,” “while,” or “although.” Check subject–verb agreement and ensure each sentence has a complete, correctly ordered clause.
