Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

You address both sides of the question and give an opinion, noting that fast railways can save time and that improving public transport may cost less and serve poorer people. However, the discussion is only minimally developed: several points are difficult to interpret, and there are no clear, specific examples to support them. Your conclusion says both options are important, but it does not explain which should receive priority or under what circumstances. The response is also 13 words below the 250-word minimum; the 29 words copied from the task prompt are not counted. To strengthen the response, explain each view with a clear reason and example, then state a more decisive, supported position.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has a basic overall structure: an introduction, one paragraph for each view, and a concluding opinion. This helps the reader identify the two sides being discussed. However, progression within paragraphs is often unclear, and the conclusion largely repeats earlier points rather than bringing them together. Some linking expressions, such as “Howere” and “Thred improve,” appear to signal a sequence, but the relationships between the ideas that follow are not always clear. Several sentences run together or contain fragments, making it hard to follow the argument. Use one main idea per sentence, organise supporting reasons in a clear order, and use accurate transitions to show contrast and cause.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.0

You attempt vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “constructing new railway lines,” “public transport,” “technology,” and “cost.” These choices show awareness of the subject, but the range is basic and repetitive, and frequent spelling and word-choice errors strain the reader. For example, “cuties” appears to mean “cities,” while “fast trains used of cities” does not express a clear relationship. Phrases such as “most of people is bg” and “transport cost is low” also make your intended meaning difficult to recover. Build a small bank of accurate transport-related collocations and check spelling and word forms carefully. More precise wording will help your reasons and comparisons come across clearly.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences, including a contrast introduced by “but” and a reason introduced by “because.” However, the range of sentence structures is very limited, and frequent errors in sentence formation, verb forms, agreement, articles, and punctuation sometimes distort meaning. For instance, “Other think money should be spend” has problems with the subject and verb form, while “many people is poor” shows incorrect agreement. Several sentences lack clear boundaries, such as the long sequence beginning “Some people say spend large sums…”. Practise building accurate subject–verb–object sentences first, then combine them with one clear subordinate clause. Check agreement and verb forms before adding more complex ideas.
