Student answer (Band 6.0)
In some parts of the world, some people feel it is essential to invest large amount on building new railway tracks for very fast trains between cities. Opposite group of people argue that money should be spend on developing current public transport. Although spending a large sums on establishing new railway lines because it can create less noise and air pollution and reduce the traffic congestions. I believe that improving present mass transit, people can save their time and make sure their safety and it is affordable and convenient.
On the one hand, spending a lot of money on constructing new train paths in big urban areas can create less air and noise pollution. This is because many people can travel by trains rather than using own private cars and motorcycles. Moreover, using trains can reduce the traffic jams in cities especially in front of schools and supermarket. For example, China and Japan built many new train routes in recent years,, many migrants and local residents travel by train because they can cover long distances in short time. As a result, the number of private vehicles on the roads will decreased, which can reduce harmful gas emisions and traffic noise.
On the other hand, investing money on developing existing public transportation is beneficial pathway for the community because it is affordable and convenient for people. This encourages citizens to travel by it with reasonable fares within and outside the city. Furthermore, public transit allows people to save time and make sure their safety because efficient public transit systems allow people to reach their destinations quickly and arrive at work and school on time. For instance, many university students catch local buses to arrive their point, because it is more convient with reasonable fares. Therefore, people can save their money and time when they use public transpotation systems.
In conclusion, spending huge sums on developing new railway tracks within cities can create less pollutions and can reduce traffic jams. In my opinion, investing a large number of amount on present transport because it is budget-friendly and people can sabe their money and time in this way.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address both views and give a clear preference for improving existing public transport, particularly in the introduction and conclusion. The discussion of new railways includes relevant effects—less pollution and congestion—and the China and Japan example helps illustrate this view. The case for improving current services is also relevant, with affordability, convenience, time-saving and safety identified. However, some points are asserted rather than fully explained: for example, the link between existing transit and safety is not supported with a specific reason or example. Your conclusion repeats the benefits but does not clearly compare the two options or explain why your preferred investment should take priority. Develop the supporting reasoning more evenly to make the response more complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for each view, and a conclusion. The signposts “On the one hand” and “On the other hand” make the contrast easy to follow, while “For example” and “As a result” help show relationships between ideas. However, some connections are mechanical or unclear. The opening sentence of the first body paragraph, “Although spending a lot of money…,” is not a complete sentence, so the relationship between the concession and the main point is difficult to follow. The conclusion also shifts abruptly to your preference without a clear comparison. Use complete topic sentences and link each example explicitly to the point it supports; this would make progression smoother and cohesion less formulaic.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a relevant range of topic vocabulary, including “railway tracks,” “private vehicles,” “traffic jams,” “reasonable fares” and “public transit.” These choices make the subject clear, and you attempt more specific expressions such as “harmful gas emissions.” However, inaccurate word forms, spelling and collocations are noticeable: “large amount,” “spend on developing,” “emisions,” “convient” and “present transport” weaken precision. Some phrases are also unnatural, such as “beneficial pathway for the community” and “a large number of amount.” Aim for accurate, natural combinations rather than adding elaborate wording. Checking spelling and learning common collocations for transport and investment would help you express your ideas more precisely.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and complex structures, including the reason clause “This is because…” and the relative clause “which can reduce…”. Most ideas remain understandable, but some grammatical errors affect sentence control. The opening fragment, “Although spending a large sums…,” lacks a main clause, and “the number of private vehicles… will decreased” has an incorrect verb form. There are also errors in articles, plurals and sentence construction, as in “using own private cars” and “many university students catch local buses to arrive their point.” Punctuation is inconsistent, including the doubled comma after “recent years.” Work on complete clauses, verb forms after modal verbs, and article use while continuing to practise complex sentences.
