Student answer (Band 6.0)
In modern era, the debate over whether money should be spent on new railway tracks or existing public transport system has sparked widespread discussion. Some argue that it is essential to spend a huge amount of money on constructing new railway lines among cities while, others argue that it is necessary to enhance existing local public transport. In my opinion, both perspectives have merit ragarding to their facilities. This essay will examine both sides before arriving at reasoned conclusion.
On the one hand, there are compelling reasons why some individuals support to have new railway tracks for fast trains between cities. The primary justification is that it improves connectivity between regions by linking cities and villages, so people can travel for jobs, education and medicine in more cheaper and convinent way than planes. For instance, individuals live in far backward villages come to city hospitals for better treatment in less cost. Furthermore, it enhance economic growth by trading goods through roads without comsuming much time like trading through sea.
On the other hand, an alternative perspective suggests that upgrading old public transport system is equally, if not more, significant. Proponents of this view argue that the transport sector provide jobs for drivers, conductors and maintaince workers which, ultimately fosters employment opportunities. While there is a distinct value in both arguments , I personally agree with the former viewpoint beause it facilitate international advacement through fast trading, ensuring a more sustainable outcome in the long run.
To sum up, while valid arguments surrounds both views I reiterate that trains boost exports and economy.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You discuss both proposed investments and state a preference for new fast railway lines, so the main parts of the task are present. The case for new lines includes improved regional connections and access to city hospitals, while the existing-transport paragraph raises employment. However, the two views are not developed equally: the benefits of upgrading local services are largely reduced to jobs, without explaining how better buses or trains would help passengers. Some support is also unclear or inaccurate—for example, the claim that railways enable trading “through roads” does not explain the link, and the conclusion focuses on exports rather than summarising both sides. Develop each argument with a clear explanation and relevant example, and make your position consistent and fully reasoned.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for each view, and a conclusion. Signposting such as “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “To sum up” helps readers follow the discussion, and the ideas generally progress in a logical order. This meets the lower-band expectation of coherent organisation and shows some flexibility in linking. However, a few connections are mechanical or unclear. The sentence beginning “While there is a distinct value in both arguments” shifts abruptly from the opposing view to your opinion, and the final sentence introduces exports without a clear link to the preceding discussion. Use more precise referencing and transitions, and ensure each paragraph develops one connected line of reasoning.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You attempt a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “connectivity,” “economic growth,” “employment opportunities,” and “sustainable outcome.” These choices show an effort to discuss transport and its wider effects, but control is uneven and several noticeable spelling, word-form, or collocation errors make parts less clear. Examples include “ragarding,” “convinent,” “comsuming,” and “maintaince,” as well as the unnatural phrase “more cheaper.” Some expressions, such as “international advacement through fast trading,” are difficult to interpret precisely. Aim for accurate, natural combinations rather than adding ambitious terms where their meaning is uncertain. Proofreading spelling and checking collocations would make your vocabulary more effective and easier to understand.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You use both simple and complex sentence forms, including a relative clause in “individuals live in far backward villages” and a concessive structure beginning “While there is a distinct value in both arguments.” This shows an attempt to vary sentence patterns. However, errors occur across the response and sometimes make relationships between ideas harder to follow. For example, “it improve connectivity” and “it enhance economic growth” have subject–verb agreement problems; “individuals live” needs a relative marker, and “the transport sector provide” also has incorrect agreement. Articles and sentence punctuation are inconsistent, as in “arriving at reasoned conclusion.” Review agreement, clause construction, and article use, then check each sentence for a complete and clearly connected structure.
