Student answer (Band 5.0)

Public transportation is the one of the greatest invention in the history , because of its benifits firstly for population it is comparitivly cheaper , easily available , comfortable , provide employment and for government also , reduces global warming , traffic issues can be eliminated, souce of income for government . Railways are geographically , economically, greatest invention. Taking good are and reconstruction comes under duty of government , but a lot many things are ongoing in countries so that they have to spend funding sensibly where to spend , how much should spend , priorities . It is very debatable if it is necessary to spend huge amount of money on constructing new railway lines fpr very fast trains between cities pr should be spent on improving existing public transport . In further paragraphs will discuss this and ill conclude with logical reasoning.

Firstly i will eloborate why spending large sums of funding on construction pf new railway lines because Fast train in between cities connects two major cities in shorter periods ,so people who travel for employment purpose get benefits . It is also major development for countryto flex infront of global politics.

secondly why money should be spent on improving exisitng public transport because mainatainance is required in infrastructure, for example railway lines are made of iron and its aloy in summer temprature it tends to expand and when hugh velocity train passes from it. old vehicle produce more harmfull chemical so air pollution gets creased which leads too decrase in number of country in air quality index .

After carefully analysis both the parameters here i conclude they both are equally important im neutral in this government should priorities what is important in emergancy and funding accoring to it .

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You address both sides of the discussion: faster intercity trains are linked to employment and connections between major cities, while improving existing transport is associated with maintenance and reducing pollution. However, these points are brief and sometimes unclear, so the reasons and examples do not fully explain why either investment is preferable. Your conclusion says the options are “equally important” and that government should prioritise according to need, but this position is not developed or consistently established earlier. The opening also spends considerable space listing general benefits of public transport rather than directly framing the two choices. To strengthen the response, explain each argument with a specific consequence or example, then state a clear, reasoned preference or a more precise basis for your balanced view.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has an identifiable introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion, and “Firstly” and “secondly” signal the two sides. This gives the reader some basic organisation. However, progression within paragraphs is uneven: the opening moves from general benefits to government responsibilities and then to the question, while the first body paragraph adds an unclear point about “global politics.” Connections between claims are often abrupt, and the conclusion arrives without a developed comparison of the arguments. Some linking phrases, such as “In further paragraphs will discuss this,” announce the structure rather than advancing the discussion. Organise each body paragraph around one main claim, explain it, and connect the explanation to the question; use clear references and transitions instead of repeated sequencing signals.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You attempt topic-related vocabulary, including “constructing new railway lines,” “infrastructure,” “air pollution,” and “air quality index,” which helps identify the subject. There is also some effort to use less common expressions, such as “global politics.” However, the range is limited by frequent spelling errors and inaccurate or unnatural word combinations, including “comparitivly cheaper,” “spend huge amount of money,” and “flex infront of global politics.” These choices sometimes make the intended meaning difficult to follow, particularly in the discussion of rail expansion and pollution. Build accuracy with common transport collocations and check spelling carefully. Prefer precise, familiar wording over ambitious phrases whose meaning or fit is uncertain.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences, for example the sentence beginning “Firstly i will eloborate why…” and the explanation of rail maintenance. However, complex structures are often faulty, and frequent errors in sentence formation, articles, agreement and punctuation can make the argument difficult to read. The opening fragment, “Public transportation is the one of the greatest invention,” combines several grammatical problems, while “old vehicle produce” and “In further paragraphs will discuss” show problems with number and sentence structure. Commas and full stops are also inconsistently used, creating run-on passages. Practise writing shorter, complete sentences first, then add subordinate clauses with accurate subjects and verbs. Proofread for articles, plurals, and sentence boundaries.
