IELTS Writing Task 1 question
The diagram below shows how geothermal energy is used to produce electricity.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
Student answer (Band 6.0)
The given process gives us information about how the geothermal energy is used to produce electricity. It includes 5 significant steps. It starts with cold water pumps down and culminates with generator produces electricity.
A cursory glance at the process is adequate enough to reveal that the first step of how the geothermal energy is used to produce electricity is cold water pumped down below the surface of earth for about 4.5 kilometres under. Further, the injection well produce geothermal zone within the hot rocks.
Further looking at the graph it can be clearly seen that the production well pumps hot water up to the condenser. Also, the condenser produces steam to the Turbines which is the fifth step. Additionally, generator produces electricity which is powered by turbine.
After analysing the process geothermal power plant has fair steps but if, one step omits then the whole process can ruin the whole process respectively.
