The diagram below shows how geothermal energy is used to produce electricity.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 6.5)

Th given process delinates the various steps involved in the geothermal energy to produce electricity. It is evident that five number of steps are inculcated in it.

To Embark with, it is noticeable that cold water is pumped downwards at the injection well which is 4.5 km at a distance from the cold water being pumped .Secondly the cold water is converted into hot water by the geothermal zone which are the hot rocks and from the production well the hot water is pumped up. At this ,after the hot water is pumped up it is getting converted into condensation and then two steps are simultaneously done .The condenser is being powered by steam in the turbine and at the same time once the the steam is powered by turbine the powered turbine produces electricity with the help of generator and geothermal power plant is made to produce electricity

Overall, it becomes apparent that the given steps are mandatory to get the geothermal power plant .
