IELTS Writing Task 1 question
The diagram below shows how geothermal energy is used to produce electricity.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
Student answer (Band 5.5)
Prodcution of electricity through geotermal energy is provided in the process diagrahm of geothermal power plant.
Heat from hot rocks extracted to boil the working fluid, that run the turbine attached with electric generator to produce electricity.
Basically Cold water pumped into ground almost 4.5km below normal surface, via injection well. This Water converted into bubbles using the heat from hot rocks present in geothermal zone.
After that hight temperature steam gets into electric turbine and rotate it, that ultimately cause the rotation of generator shaft attached to it whcih produce electricity. This geothermal electricity directly goes to grids of tower and can be used or stored.
This whole process inlclude two wells in which the production well is bit wider than the injection well. Also out to two containers, the storage holding the cold water is compact than the one containing steam. Moreover two kind of powers are used there, out of those turbine is powered by steam and generator is powered by turbine to generate elctricity.
