IELTS Writing Task 1 question

The diagram below shows how geothermal energy is used to produce electricity.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 6.0)

The diagrammatic process illustrates the steps are involving to generate electricity from geothermal energy.

The process begins with cold water, which is the main source of this process. At the next stage of the injection wall, where water is pumped down at the level of 4.5 km underground to the geothermal zone, which often called hot rocks. In this zone cold water converts into hot once.

Subsequently, the production well is the next step, where hot water is pumped up to the condenser. Condenser is used to produce steam. Following this, steam is passed down to the turbine, which creates pressure to power the turbine. Finally, turbine is used to power and produce electricity. Generated electricity is supplied to various power station for the distribution. This process is remained continue.

Overall, the process consists of several stages, beginning with cold water pumped stage and ending with the production of electricity.
