The diagram below shows how geothermal energy is used to produce electricity.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 6.0)

The provided process chart highlights the information regarding how geothermal energy is used to produce electricity.

Overall, the process consists of numerous stages, starting with cold water is infected into geothermal zone, meanwhile, ending with electricity transfer into enormous transformers.

At the first glance, cold water is used to produce electricity where cold water is pumped down around 4.5 km, afterwards, cold water is injected into geothermal zone where plethora of hot rocks are available. In the following stage, injected cold water pass throughout the production well where cold water convert into hot water which is pumped up almost 4.5 km. Subsequently, hot water enters into a massive condenser where hot water convert into steam comprehensively.

Moving forward to remaining information of produced power. Noticeably, when steam undergo through turbine then turbine rotates clockwise which generates the power, simultaneously, turbine is associated with generator which helps to convert power into electricity. Ultimately, produced electricity is transferred into several transformers.
