Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the score. While the student attempts to describe the process, the explanation is incomplete and lacks the necessary detail to fully address the task. The summary of the main features is fragmented, and the description of the geothermal process is cut off abruptly at the end. To improve, the student must provide a more comprehensive overview of the entire cycle, ensuring all stages of the diagram are explained clearly and the response reaches the required length.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.5

The text lacks clear logical progression and effective paragraphing. While there is an attempt to use transition words like 'Overall' and 'Getting into further details', the sentences are often run-on and lack proper punctuation, making the flow difficult to follow. The use of cohesive devices is mechanical and insufficient to link ideas smoothly. The response ends mid-sentence, which disrupts the overall structure. To improve, the student should focus on using clear sentence boundaries, logical sequencing of the process steps, and appropriate linking words to connect ideas within and between paragraphs.

Lexical Resource — Band 4.5

The vocabulary is very limited and repetitive, with frequent spelling errors such as 'givem', 'trought', 'pumbed', 'electrcity', and 'discribe'. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to describe the technical process accurately. The student relies on basic terms and struggles with word choice, such as 'make electricity' instead of 'generate electricity'. To improve, the student should practice using topic-specific vocabulary related to energy production and focus on accurate spelling and word formation. Expanding the range of verbs and nouns used to describe mechanical processes will also help improve the quality of the writing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.5

The response contains frequent grammatical errors, including incorrect verb forms, missing articles, and poor sentence structure. For example, 'how to energy is used' is grammatically incorrect, and the sentence 'steam is rotate in turbine' shows a lack of control over passive voice. There is a lack of complex sentence structures, and the punctuation is largely absent or misused, which hinders readability. To improve, the student needs to focus on basic sentence construction, subject-verb agreement, and the correct use of passive voice, which is essential for describing processes in Task 1.
