IELTS Writing Task 1 question
The diagram below shows how geothermal energy is used to produce electricity.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
Student answer (Band 6.0)
The process chart demonstrates information about the simple procedure by which electricity is produced.
Overall,it is apparent that there are five stages in this picture, commencing with cold water, and culminating in generating electricity. The process involves pumping water underground, heating it with hot rocks, and using the resulting steam to operate a turbine and generator.
The first stage is when cold water is transported to the injection well from water tank by travelling 4.5 kilometer deeper from the surface. The step after this, it is passed through Geothermal zone(hot rocks). At the same time, water is heated by Geothermal zone. Once cold water turn to hot water, it is transfer to the production well. Than water is transferred to condenser, it cools upcoming steam from turbine . Meanwhile, when steam entre in turbine, it rotate the turbine blade. Turbine is connected with the generator, due to rotation generator produce electtricity by Gauss law. After this process is complete, electricity is transfer to power transmission tower.
